It is based on NUN DANKET ALLE GOTT, written by Johann Crüger and comes from Cantata 79 by Johann Sebastian Bach. Alex Guebert’s exquisite Redemption beautifully portrays the scene of a Hebrew woman in exile, soothing her child with a lullaby. Unable to ignore her soul’s plea for the promised Messiah, the lullaby gives way to the strains of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. Through the urgent cries of the people, “Rejoice! Rejoice” resounds as a loud refrain. As the promised one arrives, another lullaby is heard. This arrangement of the Basque carol GABRIEL’S MESSAGE features a mysterious yet lilting piano accompaniment, and a solo ranging from C5 through C7. Reproducible • Here is It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, an arrangement of Richard Storrs Willis’ beautiful Christmas tune CAROL. This flexible arrangement may be played as a handbell solo on bell tree or from the table, or as a handbell duet or trio. The lullaby-like accompaniment is restful and rocking, and includes a section reminiscent of twinkling stars. The bells required for the solo or duet range from D5 through C7, with the trio version using the full 3 octave range. In the duet and trio versions, there are no shared bells between ringers. Also available are optional parts for string ensemble (2 violins, viola, violoncello, and contrabass) including a string reduction for electronic keyboard. Three different MP3 accompaniment tracks are available: piano, string ensemble, and piano and strings.

Here is a delightful and memorable arrangement of Martin Luther’s great Christmas hymn tune VOM HIMMEL HOCH. Based on Luke 2, verses 9-12, it describes the angels’ glorious visit to the shepherds to announce the birth of the Savior. Additionally, snippets of Handel’s tune ANTIOCH (Joy to theWorld) have been interspersed throughout to create an even more joyful Christmas celebration. Several contrasting variations of the tunes are given, using techniques including mallets, shaking and LV, along with the use of optional handchimes.
