From Walt Whitman, Rupert Brooke, and Frances Ledwidge, to the unnamed bards of folksongs, poets have forged their greatest works in the crucible of war. Chor Leoni focuses on this powerful poetry as expressed in musical settings by Gustav Holst, Stephen Smith, and Michael McGlynn in a beloved Remembrance Day tradition.

Held in The Annex, this relaxed evening will feature the performance of the three winning compositions, as well as chats with each composer. Inspired by the long tradition of excellent Baltic and Scandinavian male choirs, Diane Loomer founded Chor Leoni in 1993. BC/BALTICA celebrates the amazing choral music that springs from this area of the world, and honours the foundation upon which Chor Leoni was established. Fantastic works by Tormis, Rautavaara, EĹĄenvalds, Grieg and Nystedt highlight how male choral music has grown in BC from the seeds of these Baltic masterworks. 6

New Recording Chor Leoni is proud to release its first recording under the direction of Artistic Director Erick Lichte. Recorded at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts with GRAMMY award-winning producer Steve Barnett, the disc features the premiere recording of Wandering Heart by riks Ešenvalds to poetry of Leonard Cohen.
