Dear People of God,
Cathedral Matters is growing. We have been building up a list of opportunities for us can continue in our life of discipleship even while we are apart from one another. I want to draw your attention to the “Service to Others” section this week. Several of the deacons in the Louisville put together a wonderful list of ministries that are continuing to offer services to our most vulnerable neighbors during this uncertain time. While UP for Women and Children and the food pantry at Central Louisville Community Ministries continues to need our support, please also consider helping one of these other wonderful organizations. I’ll put in a special plug for the food pantry at St. George’s Episcopal Church, one of our Urban Partner congregations. They host a Dare to Care pantry at their church serving their neighbors in West Louisville. Deliveries to the pantry have been smaller than usual, however, while the needs continue to grow. If you would like to make a donation, please call Lisa Vish at 502.991.5535 She will be able to tell you what items they need most on any given day. I also want to thank everyone who attended our first Zoom Coffee Hour last week. Hannah and I enjoyed getting to see many of you for the first time since we suspended public worship. If you weren’t able to make it last week, please consider joining us today at 12:30 p.m. See the article under “Life and Fellowship” for more details on how to join. (Note that you can call in on your phone as well as using a computer.) Looking forward to seeing you there! Easter blessings, Matt+

service to others Updated Needs from Central Louisville Community Ministries
At Central Louisville Community Ministries, we’re up to our masks in work, and we’re so grateful for all the support and prayers coming our way! The Food Pantry at Calvary Episcopal Church continues to serve record numbers of folks with food, a flower, referrals for other needs, and toilet paper and cleaning supplies when we can get them. We are amazed and grateful for the continued flow of food and funds to ensure our neighbors have enough to eat. We continue to struggle to locate nonperishable food items in quantity. If you are able to contribute canned veggies, soups, canned chicken, Ramen, peanut butter, spaghetti and sauce, hotdogs, bread, or sweets, we need them! One volunteer called her friends, told them the need, and then did porch-pickup from them, which brought us a carload of food! Every can and jar helps! We also need toilet paper, diapers in sizes 4-6, cleaning supplies, and soap to offer.
We are also starting to give away bags specifically for those who do not have kitchens. Items for these bags include canned food with pull tabs and other snacks.
Donations can be dropped off at Calvary Episcopal Church, 821 S. 4th, at their side door off the parking lot between 9 and 1 MonThurs, or at the CLCM office at First Unitarian between 9 and 3. Across the parking lot in our offices at First Unitarian Church, we’re busy helping people catch up on rent and utilities payments with additional funding that the One Louisville Covid Relief Fund and our partners at LG&E and the Water Company have made possible. We are small but mighty--we were able to disburse over $13,000 in rent and mortgage assistance in the last week and a half!
Call (502) 587-1999 for more information, or if you need or know someone who needs help with utilities, rent, prescriptions, or food. You can also make a financial contribution through the fundraiser on our CLCM Facebook Page. Thank you all!
First Sunday In-Gathering
As you remember, the first Sunday of the month is when we gather food and personal care items for the food pantry at Calvary and services at Central Louisville Community Ministries. Just because we are not gathering in person does not mean that these items are not really needed. In fact, they are needed even more right now. If you want to contribute food or personal care items, please either bring them to the Cathedral, take them to Randy Peters at 421 Oread Road, or let Randy know that you have things to be picked up any time during this upcoming week. You can email Randy at rpeters421@yahoo.com or call 502-899-9091. She or someone will arrange to pick them up from you. Randy was told by the organizer of the food pantry that the Cathedral’s contributions at the beginning of each month were invaluable and could provide food for a lot of bags for people in need.
UP for Women and Children
Housed here at the Cathedral, UP continues to offer services in our courtyard on Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can make donations through their website: uplouisville.org
If you would prefer to drop off a donation, they are in need of the following items: - Canned food with pull tabs (soups, pasta, Spam, Vienna sausage) - Hand sanitizer - Toilet paper - Facial tissue - Disinfectant spray - Face masks - Rubber gloves

life & fellowship Join us for Zoom Coffee Hour
We will host a virtual coffee hour using Zoom at 12:30 p.m. Just click on the link below to join the meeting. If you’ve never used Zoom, your device might need to download it – just follow the prompts. You can also call in using one of the numbers listed in the invitation
Tips on using Zoom: 1. Don’t use two devices in the same room for the meeting. Annoying feedback will likely be generated. Multiple individuals can view the same screen, of course. 2. If you know how, mute your audio – there will be a prompt on the Zoom screen – when not talking. Remember to unmute when you want to talk. If you aren’t sure how to mute audio, don’t make extra sounds when at the computer. Zoom will focus the conversation based on audio. 3. You may be asked to allow Zoom to use the camera (video) and microphone (audio). Agree to this. 4. If you have announcements for the group, you might want to write them down in advance. You can also type them into the chat window.
5. We will open the meeting a few minutes prior to 12:30. You can join then.
Christ Church Cathedral is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
