Burwood Central

An Expression of Self-Regeneration

BURWOOD CENTRAL is a project which has been

deviced as a proposal for the Architectural Contest : Regenerative Living, organised by Fraser Property in February 2016. The aim of this proposal has been to extablish a line between external energy consumptions and self generated resources. Also as part of the project, the proposal expands itself to a social scape in the neighbourhood of the City of Whitehorse located in Burwood East, VIC, Australia. The proposal taking the shape of a Commercial Facility in the designated locality, has for aim to educate the people of the neighbourhood about environmental conciousness and awareness. In collaboration with my partner, Alexandre Law Min on this project, we deviced a strategy which would both satisfy our intentions towards Environamental Education and Social Integretion. We remember this project as the “Neighbouring Transformation Farm where waste from within the Shopping Facility and Neighbouring Residential Areas would have their wastes recycled at Burwood Central and transformed into Energy sources, which would then be redistributed to the grid of the certain extend. Thinking in a Small Shell Small the New Big

THINKING IN A SMALL SHELL is a concept that follows the idea of incorporating space maximization concepts into restricted volumes. At the occassion of this project which is located on BOYD Community hub ground. The project seek to bring along student accomodation to Art Students who attend the surrounding Art Schools.

In this project, the principal of space vs. experience shifts is highly regarded to the point that even the joineries are part of the concept. The experience works in a way that an instant translation from cozy Living room to Artist Workshop could be achieved. “The Artist’s mind is a mess that is strictly organised as a mess...” Christopher Ng 2016

Start!

Showcourt 3 at Melbourne Olympic Parks

START! is the product of twelve weeks of experimentations over the concept of the “Living Stadium conducted within the premises of NH Architecture in Melbourne. The main goal of the project was to attain a year round activation program that will promote the Melbourne Olympic Parks where is conducted the Australian Tennis Open at the start of every year. Subsequently, Start! is an eye catching and daring concept that promotes hyperactivity and intends to gather people of all age groups around the locality of Melbourne CBD. Start! replaces its predecessor Showcourt 3 as a go-Kart Starting Pit and expands across the entire Tennis Precinct, over which Riders would race over and experience the various facettes of the City. The program is categorized as being Nocturne Oriented. Christopher David Ng Man King Feb. 2017 Supervised by Hamish Lyon

Market in My Basket Doncaster Heights

Market in my basket

is a bridging institute recalling the persian roots of Naturalised Iranians and other islamic communities, to the heart of a multitude of activities promoting the idealism of a bonded community and sporting events. The program ran through the facility, called Meet-Pie is setup up to bringing forward this aspect of sharing which is the main essence of persian principals. The facility offers rentable workshops and a central pavillion housing market events and a other communal events. However, a phase II is on its way with the uprising of the extension of a sports centre and backyard. Bringing together the principal of multicultural sharing is the driving ideal of the centre as all ethnicities are welcome. A world is made of diversities and it is the beauty of it. Recalling: The Streets Old Batavia, Jakarta, Indonesia

R E C A L L I N G is the symphosis of a long term research

and design development coming to an end. The project intends to bridge communities and encourage to ideology of union and equality; as a result, due to the previous research conducted on the previous dramas of past evictions, nominating the article “Get off the Square!!! published in the Guardian in 2016, the project recalls the pioneers of street life in the Fatahillah Square. The project is a marriage of spaces constituted of Market Spaces and Performance Stages in order to re-establish an embelished relationship with the historical site of Old Batavia (nowadays Kota Tua), which before the propagandas of eviction, used to be a place where recreational activities were performed. In such case, R E C A L L I N G offers a second chance to redempt those activities. Moreover, the project intent to bridge the waterfront of Kali Besar to the Fatahillah Square, allowing a thoroughfare of delightful cultural, artistic and cullinary delights provided by previously evicted local artists, performers and hawkers, thus allowing the opportunity for Kota Tua Jakarta to regain its splendor of before and its reputation as a plaza.

Kraffmen Cafe

Batu Gajah, Penang, Malaysia

KRAFFMEN is one my other personal projects that I

was contracted by my close friend, Aaron Chua who is the owner of the cafe at present time. The Cafe is a daring concept due to the fact that it consist of transplanting international atmosphere to Penang in Malaysia. After having worked with Aaron on the development of his cafe, he wanted to incorporate a Melbournian Feel to his establishment. Subsequently, the most valuable and common factor that I could decrypt from those two localities was their history. In such case, the cafe being established in a heritage area in Penang, the material palette was chosen accordingly to represent the artistic and cozy side of melbourne Cafes. Out of Expectations, Kraffmen became a trend-changing establishment in Malaysia which is now being considered as the example to follow. It’s all over the social medias and the internet and it skyrocketed within six (6) months of it’s opening date. Christopher David Ng Man King Feb. 2016 Personal Real Life Project

Urban Home Modern Living Bagatelle Mall Phase II, Mauritius

URBAN HOME MODERN LIVING is a home con-

cept display showroom that I have been working on during my short passage in Mauritius while awaiting for my departure for Melbourne to pursue my Master in Architecture. This concept is an interior design driven project that I was contracted by Albert Trading Ltd. Mauritius to generate the 3D visuals and adjust and experiment the design which has previously being concepted by another Interior Architect. My main duty during the course of this project was to have a interchanging relationship between site supervisions and design alterations and corrections. Within the course of four (4) months, Urban Home finally opened its doors on time for Christmas. Alexandre Law Min Christopher David Ng Man King Oct. 2015
