1.0 DESIGN PROJECT ANALYSIS 1.1 Introduction to the site
1.2 PESTLE ANALYSIS
This project is located in the Federal Teritory of Kuala Lumpur, most precisely at Jalan Ampang, South West of the City of Kuala Lumpur. The Site was once well-known as being the main active area of the Federal Teritory in 1899 before the initiative to develop the Capital. Nowadays, the Capital has taken magnitude over the the site, Jalan Ampang’s popularity has been drastically reduced. Instead, it became an escape road to filter the massive vehicular traffic jam in and out of the City Center. Nevertheless, the site can be described with one adjective ‘Elegant’ as for fact that even the silence occuring on site, the architecture continues to speak out of their past by expressing their layers of deteriorations overlaying on each other.
Political
The ‘croissant shape’ side is sandwiched in between Jalan Ampang on it’s frontage and the Klang river on its backyard. At the back of the site would be located the commercial district, Capital Square which the a multi-purpose complex is installed. Hence the site is also at close proximities to few landmarks such as Dang Wangi LRT station, Capsquare Residences, Wisma AIA and KL tower. The Site is split into two (2) portions, Bukit Nanas Side where Jalan Ampang is located and Capital Square where most of the activities happen. A potential Opportunity to induce the programme of an Art Performance Centre is highly present as the surrounding perimeter comprises of 4 institutes and a huge mass of population around the concerned area. Thus, the opportunity carries along the induction of a new kind of art performance which beneficiate the surrounding institutes as well.
The Strength
Strategically, the site is located in between two lands where the site acts as a connector to the two lands. The availability of public transport, stating Dang Wangi LRT Station and GOKL shuttle bus as 300m to the site highlights the fact that a consequent mass of people occupies the surrounding of the site as well as its neighboring buildings. The fact that the KL Tower is facing the site is considered as a significant strength as a strong visual axis is created which allows good views.
The Opportunity
The land is relatively flat and the Klang River being located at the back of the site represents a potential asset in order to revitalize the site. Ja

Since the centralization of Jalan Ampang, a social gap has been created which ended up in making the site as a split which seperated Bukit Nanas and the Capsquare area. Therefore, implementing a new kind of programme onto the site such as an Art Performance Centre, can reverse the situation and give back life to the site.
Technological
Living in a world where technology is overly taking magnitude upon the society, weaving along partially would be beneficial in such a way for survival. There, opting for the Transportation Technologies such as Water Taxis which will occupy the klang river can be of great help to reduce vehicular traffic in the surrounding perimeter. Thus the ‘River of Life” program also carries along opportunities for technological innovations which can as well be associated to nature survival.

The Klang River is composed of all the necessary ingredients to become a vibrant waterfront that can bring along enormous economic values. Thus, Jalan Ampang which is parallel to the Klang River can as well find opprtunities of being reborn. Therefore developing a project along the riverside will promote the area. This new project will attract promoteurs, investors, businesses and other stakeholders to invest in the area. Hence, this will subsequently create more job opportunities for the society as well as bringing up the level of activity on site.
Developing a project in between the river bank and Jalan Ampang requires to fullfill the laws and building act and regulations. Thus, a building set-back line based on the Authorities shall clearly be taken into consideration before the commencement of the project.

Jalan Ampang was basically the part of kuala Lumpur where most activities used to happen as well as various political associated institues where present there such as insurance offices, bank offices and other facilities but in 1991 the decentralization of Jalan Ampang to the City of Kuala Lumpur began. Thus, Jalan Ampang slowly started to perish under to desertion those previous facilities which transferred to the city centre. At present times, the backyard of the site has been transformed into a residential and commercial zone whereas the site has still began left under dead conditions but since 2008, the government launched a project called the “River of Life” which has as aim the 107 km of the waterfront.

Due to the excessive amount of hardscape on site, the disconnectivity between Bukit Nanas frontage and the street frontage seems to be highlighted. Therefore, thanks to the occurence of the “River of Life” project, a need to soften the site with landscape will highly beneficiate of Site and its surrounding as well by implementing the concept of “Urban Forest”. 1.0 DESIGN PROJECT ANALYSIS
1.3 Programme Viability The Proposed Programme
The Project Objectives
The proposed building for Architectural Design Studio 6 would be a Performance Art Centre, Named Hamonic Body Art Centre, which would be considered an experimental project. The Big Idea behind this project proposal is to break free of conventions and behave free. The programme aims combining Drawing Skills and Dancing Skills into a unique type of Art which which would be called Harmonic Body Art. Thus, the programme will be a very supportive asset for the surrounding institutes as a huge demand in facilities for extra-curricular activities is occuring on site. This Type of Art allows its performer to vitalize its emotions into a printed trace which would be memorized, as to mentioned that the printed art would be an output of the body performance of the performer where elegant and exagerated gestures would be exerted during the performance. The Programme only scopes to heal the Rigid Stressful Environment we are leaving in by allowing its practitioners to let loose of themselves, thus sheltering themselves in a dimension which stands in between space and time. As support, the program also aims in connecting the two sides of the site with the help of a bridge with would allow the human flow from both sides to intertwine.
The Art Performance Centre in brief will be a centre point and a landmark for Jalan Ampang which will revitalize the site. It will build the generation of Artist of Tomorrow which would innovate the World of Art and break free of conventions. The Centre will be at the same time an artistic institute as well as a Living Piece of Architecture Where the performers will also be part of the Architecture. The Programme aims to allow the access to people of any age to come and learn innovations. Therefore, this will tight up bonds among the society and gradually break through the orderly chaos we are all living in.\
WHAT IS THE ART ABOUT?
KLPAC would be a potential client in this kind of scenario, as their aim is to innovate and promote arts. Thus, this innovative programme will be suitable for them to invest as they have shown interest in revitalizing arts and bonding with nature as a medium for arts. KLPAC has already established themselves in Sentul but expanding their scope beyond Theatric Arts and taking over the project of Harmonic Body Art would also help them to upgrade their status. KLPAC showed its love for Performing Arts by uniting artists of Multi-categories which is an asset needed in this context except for the fact that this upcoming project will help them as well to financially stabilize themselves as the performance centre will as well be an institute which would be affiliated to nearby institutes.
In Harmonic Body Art, the artist’s medium is the body and the live actions he/she performs are the work of art. the term, used loosely at first, arose in the early 1960’s as American practitioners sought a way to refer to and describe the many lives events taking place at that time. Harmonic Body Art usually consists of four (4) elements : Time, Space, the performer’s body and a relationship between environment and the performer. Traditionally, the work is interdisciplinary, employing some other kind of visual art. Although this Art takes place in the form of live actions, it has reached a large public audience through the documentation of the performance as to mean the printed canvas which would be the trace left

Client and Stakeholders
behind the performance. Organization Background In 1995, two individuals created history by building the first privately owned and operated theatre in Malaysia below Dataran Merdeka. The individuals were none other than Faridah Merican and Joe Hasham. The said theatre was the The Actors Studio@Plaza Putra. Then in 2003, flash floods inundated KL and destroyed The Actors Studio’s underground complex entirely. It was out of this tragedy that the The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) was born. The arts community needed a new home. And history was made yet again. The Actors Studio, YTL Corporation and Yayasan Budi Penyayang joined hands to establish the country’s first fully-integrated arts centre. klpac, a non-profit organisation, opened its doors in May 2005. It has not only been a home to the arts community and a foster home for foreign troupes but it has become the very lifeline that keeps the arts and cultural life in Malaysia breathing. An arts and cultural icon. Historical landmark. Award-winning architectural design. Fig 2: The Demographics of people acknowledging Art performances in the Locality of Kuala Lumpur
1.0 DESIGN PROJECT ANALYSIS 1.4 Design Suitability
PRODUCED BY AN AUTODESK EDUCATIONAL PRODUCT
The design has been illustrated out of 4 standing suboids where each block has been adapted to the rectilinear language of the site. The design has been following the requirements of the boundary lines and a building set-back of 6m on frontage. The Building is designed in such a way that is relates to a double frontage language where one side is facing the klang River and the other is facing the KL Tower. The Smooth curve serving as roof shape is a revisited version of the typical pitch roof. The Spacing in between each block allows transparency through the site in order to create contrast in terms of high. As a result, the visual permeamibility of the site also allows passage ways for the people to connect to the back lane of the site which thus leads to a bridge connecting the people of both sides of the location to access the building.

The Main Feature of this project would be its transparency. The architecture of the design tends to connect visually and spiritually the people of both side of the location and create contrast in order to highlight history. Hence, being a feature landmark, the design is incorporated with a water Taxi Station which would allow easy access to the building from the waterfront once the “River of Life” project is complete. The huge void in the epicenter of the design is another architectural key feature to be highlighted as it would allow transparency through the building, thus creating a connection from the Street Frontage to the building to the River Front.

The type of architecture which is being aimed for in this contect would be a type where the people and the drawing media would be part of the architecture as well, as the weaving flesh would make the building to become alive. The main block is composed of a central atrium which would create an axis from front to back and 2 performing grand studios, each located at the river front and the street frontage.
