A Visit to C&C Thunder

Article & Pictures By Wally Wersching I had heard about C&C Thunder in Cowpens, SC for quite a while but never been there. On Wednesday, February 24th, I decided to take a ride there. It was a beautiful early spring afternoon with temps in the high 60’s. I knew about where it was, so I headed south toward Gaffney. I turned right onto Rt 29. I could have taken I85 but with all the construction, I thought that Rt 29 would be more enjoyable – I was right! Rt 29 changes from a two-lane to a four lane a few times on its way to Cowpens. I passed many large factories on the way. Before I knew it, I was in Cowpens. Cowpens is a quaint small Southern town. There are many small shops on Main Street along with large old homes. After passing through the main part of Cowpens, I saw C&C Thunder on the left, and pulled into the parking lot next to a Victory Highball. “Miss Vickie” has a way of finding her relatives wherever we go. When I walked through the door, I met Caleb “Calo” – the parts manager. I gave him a few magazines for his magazine rack. We started talking, and he has a personality that makes you feel welcome. After a few minutes, we were talking like we knew each other for a long time - laughing and cutting up. As we talked, I learned that C&C Thunder has been a real “Speed Shop” for over 20 years. They have all the tools, machines, and knowhow to build a very fast motorcycle – even a Dyno in the basement. They work on both carbureted and fuel injected bikes. One of their customers was there confirming everything “Calo” was saying because he has owns of the fastest bikes they ever built. They also sell bikes, accessories, leathers, apparel, wheels & tires, and parts. They are a complete bike shop. According to “Calo” they can do anything you want to your bike. They enjoy making your bike go faster while making it more reliable. I didn’t ask their prices because I don’t want “Miss Vickie” to go any faster. She’s fast enough for me the way she is.

Check out their website candcthunder.com or their Facebook page C & C Thunder Custom Cycles. They sound like the “real deal”.
