In honor of Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9th, CCM decided to do our featured story on Ms. & Miss. May Chrome!
Ms. Brittany Stevens & Miss. Adylyn are enjoying a moment after riding for Mother’s Day flowers.
Brittany is a busy mother of 4 amazing children, owner & operator of Newman Farm-house and manager of the American Legion Farmer’s Market where she also sells her fresh produce. In her spare time, Brittany loves riding the roads on her ’86 Rebel. Then some trail rid-ing either on her horse or mudding in her jeep.
Her daughter; Adylyn is 7-years-old. And like her mom, she has a busy schedule! When she is not at ballet, she is feeding animals at the farm or riding ponies. Sometimes she’s blazing along the trails on her dirt bike. As you can see both ladies are remarkably busy! Just as most all mothers are! Happy Mother’s Day from The Chrome Crew & Ladies of Chrome, & Carolina Chrome Magazine!
Dr. Dilligaf Dr. Dilligaf, Sometimes when sitting on my bike at a long light or on a ride my Butt falls asleep. Occasionly it will happen to my legs or hands as well if I spend a lot of time in the saddle. WTH? Is there anything that I can do to prevent this? Signed, Unconfortably Numb Unconfortably Numb Well I can ease your pain, get you on your feet again. Relax. I’ll need some information first, just the basic facts. Can you show me where it hurts? There is no pain, you are receding. A distant ship, smoke on the horizon, you are coming through in waves. Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying. When I was a child I had a fever, my hands felt just like two ballooons. Now I’ve got that feeling once again. I can’t explain, you would not understand. This is not how I am. I too have become “Unconfortably Numb.” OOPs, my bad. I had a Pink Floyd moment. Most of the symptoms that you are exhibiting are from one of two causes. Either your bike is ill fitting. Handlebars, seat, controls etc. not suited to your stature. Or you are just too old to be riding. Try fitting your bike to your physique and riding style instead of bolting on the same goodies that your friends have. I would rather be a misfit than to ride a bike that is a misfit for me. Don’t try to fit in, ride something that is confortable and don’t worry what everyone else is doing to their bike. Don’t get caught up in Fads, they pass. But a good bike can last you a lifetime. Dr. Dilligaf
When they come for it a disconnected battery wire isn’t going to stop them. They jump out of trucks or trailers about four strong, jacked up on drugs carrying two by fours. They slide those two by fours through those expensive wheels of yours and carry your pride and joy right into the back of one of those enclosed trailers that they stole the week before. Probably the only time that your motorcycle is truly safe from theft is when you are riding it. When you get off lock your handlebars. That way when they pick it up with the two by fours andthe wheel is locked to the left they will hopefully just carry it around in a circle. Honestly, it is near impossible to keep anything from being stolen but you can do somethingnthat may lead to recovery or arrest. After having numerous trailers and trucks stolen from our place of business we invested in mounted GPS trackers. Caught the thieves that last entered our property and stole a trailer full of equipment in less than twelve hours. A less expensive and therefor less effective theft deterrent is an audible alarm that sounds when your bike is moved even if carefully . . -Dr. Dilligaf
Dr. Dilligaf, Someone told me that if I’m afraid of my motorcycle being stolen that I should just disconnect my battery wire. What is your opinion? Prevention, Prevention is better than a cure. Someone is an idiot. It isn’t like the miscreants who steal bikes are driving them off. Most of those Meth Heads couldn’t operate a motorcycle safely enough to ever get it back to Gaston. But sure enough when the law cracks down on them for stealing catalytic converters, they are coming for your bike. Dr. Diligaf is meant for entertainment only! The views and opinions expressed in the articles are not meant to offend anyone or group. If you have been offended, understand; that is not our objective. Thank you thick skin readers and for those other readers; the chrome crew offers free hugs! Send in YOUR Questions for Dr. Dilligaf to: carolinachrome@yahoo.com. 8

That says it all and all that matters on the Bub Lollis Whitten Center Ride Day! Rain or shine, even a little sleet a time or two, over the years, has not stopped the faithful from coming out to support this event/ ride! The Bub Lollis Whitten Center Ride started 32 years ago to help our friends, the residence. The Whitten Center first opened its doors to residents in 1920 as South Carolina’s first and largest Institution, housing persons labeled as mentally handicapped or developmentally disabled. So many of these residents have only the employees as family and are confined to spend the rest of their lives at this center. The folks homed at the Whitten Center, can’t just go and see a parade such as one that would be held in a town for a holiday celebration. So, “us” the biker community, takes one to them!! All residence that can walk or be rolled out, line the streets to hear the rolling thunder and see the colorful bikes and smiles of the bikers, as they roll by. Over the years, many of our “tough & hard core” bikers/riders have ridden through the resident lined road and not able to make it past the first group without wiping tears. Seeing the joy and smiles on these faces of so many less fortunate, will touch anyone’s harden heart! As Covid along with general budget cuts and state funding, the bike community’s support is GREATLY NEEDED in the form of selected items and monetary donations. Visit CHROMESC.COM for updated list of donation items and upcoming ride information.

Southern Carolina Cycles was established on February 1, 2020 just before the pandemic broke out and shut down a lot of businesses. But it didn’t hurt the owner of and operator of Southern Carolina Cycles; Bobby Manor Jr and his wife Anna. They are located at 679 Two Notch Rd, Lexington Sc. Bobby grew up in Clinton SC, however he graduated from Eau Claire high school in the hood (EDITOR’S NOTE). After high school he started selling auto parts for a major car dealership for 35 years. On Friday, January 13, 2017, him and his wife decided to go for a ride on their bike which they were skeptical about. Skeptical….?? There was a full moon and it was Friday the 13th!! Needless to say; it was a bad idea, of course! They got in a motorcycle accident which made them realize, they were at a point in their life. What point you ask… me too!! They realized life is too precious to waste! Did you hear that? They said it!! Because of this, he took early retirement. What is he going do with all that extra time?? He decided to open up a business! Him and Anna, could spend more time together (they thought*) and have more time with their families. Bobby, from a young age has always had a passion for Harley-Davidson’s. He decided to open a small motorcycle shop. He knows how to work on bikes and
has for a long time. He bought property and made it his dream of buying and selling used Harleys and also fixing them come true. Harleys are his specialty. He does all the work himself and guarantees it. He sells parts for all Harley Davidson models and years, ands deals with Cut Dragon dealer parts. He offers oil changes, three whole changes, Dunlop Harley-Davidson Dunlop tires, stereos and hot tune speakers. Most parts he deals with Kuryakyn dealer parts. Since 2020 he has gained respect from our community and is praised for his outstanding work and compassion to please the biker community. While I was interviewing Bobby for this article, a man came from Lancaster SC to pay cash for one of the bikes… Paid him and walked out a happy customer, just as Bobby had always imagined! Stop in to Southern Carolina Cycles to see bikes on display, or for any of your Harley needs… you may even run into his son; Bobby Manor III and his little granddaughter. Southern Carolina Cycles 639 Two Notch Rd, Lexington SC Open Tuesday - Friday 9am-6pm & Saturdays 9am-1pm.
Bobby has a special!!!! His oil changes are $99.00 for synthetic oil with ad from Carolina Chrome Magazine!!!!

I AM THAT GUY
There were a couple of young boys in the parking lot that seemed to be between eight and ten years old, and they were ecstatic to see our bikes. They kept walking out in the parking lot, smiling and waving, and shouting things like “Hey motorWhen I was a kid, much like any other young boy, I was capcycle man!” These kids were looking at us the way I used to tivated by motorcycles and motorcycle people. I responded with “Yes sir, I am.” My first actual ride on a motorcycle was amazing. A Reason To Ride 10 years ago, Kevin Gumina, aka; Crude, started Crude’s Veteran Ride as just a fun ride! He used a website called BON with only 10 riders to get the word out there! As he has done in the past, he decided to raise money for a charity on with the ride. Now in his 10th year, the ride successfully gained over 250 motorcycles from all walks of life and locations across the US. Kevin currently lives in Ohio. And after he has planned this event throughout the winter each year, he is rewarded with his ride down to the Spring Myrtle Beach Rally on his Harley Ultra. Luckily, it’s only 750 miles each way from his home in Ohio! He explains, excitedly that it’s turned into an annual tradition. He has met a lot of great people and many return riders have participated year after year. Some have traveled from a far, just to attend this event. As of 2021, Kevin has decided to host the charity in honor of Homes For Our Troops. If you want to learn more, be sure to check out their website: hfotusa.org. Being transparent, Kevin states: .90 of every dollar raised goes to support this charity; Homes For Hero’s.
...to Myrtle Beach, S.C. This charity, Homes For Our Troops; builds and modifies homes for post 911 veterans with physical disabilities such as amputees. This allows them to rebuild their lives in a mortgage free home. This years ride is a simple 4 stop punch card event. This year’s event has a limitededition t-shirt and a grand prize of $500! Plus, other prizes for things such as; the furthest traveled on a Motorcycle and the best Covid mask. Other fundraising efforts include 50/50 with cash & prize events. Carolina Chrome Magazine is excited to partner up and support this annual event for such an awesome cause. Be sure to mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 12th sign up at The Golden Egg Surfside Beach SC 8am-9:30 am. KSU up at 10am.
