Junior Lauren Isom-Wiedow donates money to the Angel Tree in Andrew’s room. Andrews’ sixth hour is trying to win the most money challenge once again this year.
As the repeated $20 bills hit the bottom of the Angel Tree giving jar, history teacher Mr. Andrews knew that his class was going to win. The competition throughout the school for classes to raise the most money to adopt kids for the Angel Tree was in his hands, all because of one student. “I gave $160,” junior Chase Hartsuff said. Hartsuff was in Andrews sixth hour last year and propelled the class to victory through his generosity. “I just felt like it,” Hartsuff said. “I guess I also wanted to help the kids in need.” Student council conducts the Angel Tree affair every year. He sat in the stands and watched as the Lakewood Middle School football team played South Middle. People looked in amazement as a man of his stature would take time out of his busy schedule to come to a middle school football game; however, for new USD305 superintendent William 'Bill' Hall, it is all in a days work. "That has always been my leadership style," Hall said. "Part of my job is the opportunity to meet students, staff, and teachers." Throughout the year Mr. Hall has been seen within the halls of our school numerous times. 6WXGHQWV ȴQG LW UHIUHVKLQJ WR see the man in charge of their

school actually making himself visible. Hall has been in our school during the school day numerous times already. "If they are going to be above us, then it is important to know who they are and where they stand on things," senior Mitchel Wilson said. Mr. Hall is also bringing many new fresh ideas into consideration. The idea that is possibly the farthest along is the use of iPads in the classroom "We are in the exploratory phase with the iPads right now," Hall said. "We are looking at possibly using the iPad as a type of digital textbook." Soon Mrs. Bigler's class will be using iPads to experiment how the technology will work. opportunity. Other ideas that are being brought to the table include seventh grade sports and the staggered start time of school. 7KHUH LV QRWKLQJ GHȴQLWH LQ the future but they are things we are looking into," Hall said. "The board of education has also gone paperless; we think that if our teachers should do it than so should the board." There is no doubt that new superintendent Mr. Hall is trying to leave his mark and set himself apart from the rest. Yet, when it comes to snow-days, he gives the typical superintendent answer. "If we can have school then we will," Hall said."But if the safety of students and staff are at danger then we will call it off."
