Monsters in the middle By Trent Brown Staff Reporter
A key to a successful defense in football is having big, aggressive, hard hitting linebackers who are not afraid to blow up a play. The football team has just those types of linebackers. Four of them in fact. Junior linebackers, Kade True, and Ben Bethea, control the inside while juniors Mark Vaughn, and Nathan Garlow, take the perimeter of the linebacking crew. These linebackers bring a large presence to the GHIHQVH 6L]H LV GHȴQLWHO\ D factor as the average size of the four is 6’1 and 207 pounds.

“We bring a presence of fear and a feeling that you’re about to get kicked in the mouth” explained
True. Intimidation is just one of the many reasons a team has to fear the mustang defense. The South rivalry game is one of the most important of the year. The linebackers know that they must be on top of their game in order to pull a victory against the cross town rivals. “The defense needs to shut down the running game and get into Busby’s head” said Bethea. Stopping the running game and having a dominating defense will be one of the keys to winning the Mayor’s Cup.
“Expect a lot of emotion and intensity in the game,” explained Vaughn.
