CHW Incoming Directors Why I Aspire to be a CHW Director

Why I aspire to be a CHWDirector:

Lynn Gillman ( CHW Ottawa)

Two years ago, I was asked why I aspired to be a CHW Director. When I recently looked back on my response, I was happy to see that the two reasons - being part of a great team and getting a deep dive into a lot of issues, was still what drove me to want to be part of another session as a member of the board. I encourage all members, who are looking for an experience that will enrich your life, enjoy meeting interesting people, appreciate learning about the organization, have a sense of developing ideas and programs and want to give back to CHW, to consider joining the Board of Directors.

Marcia Glick (CHW Kitchener-Waterloo)

CHW has quickly evolved to keep up with the fast-paced digital world in which we live.

Without forgetting our roots, our Board of Directors has made forward looking decisions to make sure we continue to fulfill our ultimate mission to support Children, Healthcare and Women in Israel and Canada. As a Sustainer, Major Donor, and Legacy Circle member, I want to offer my time and expertise to continue the history of dynamic decision making. I sincerely hope we can live up to the past leadership that has led us to be the premier charitable organization that we are today.

Sarah Granatowicz (CHW Toronto)

I aspire to be a CHW Director as my love for CHW takes me back many years ago to Sao

Paolo, Brazil. Ever since moving to Canada, becoming a member of CHW, as well as Toronto

President has been one of my biggest accomplishments. I want to empower women to continue to stand behind all that CHW stands for. I feel lucky and honoured to share my knowledge of the future with our devoted members.

Roslyn Joseph (CHW Montreal)

To me, a National Director gives meaning to being at the forefront of furthering the work of

CHW. I look forward to continue working with these remarkable women on the path that leads to benefiting our projects in Israel. CHW has played a major role in my life, and I am honoured to continue on the Board of Directors.

This will be my fourth term on the Board of Directors and it will be my privilege to lead this team of accomplished and dedicated volunteers. My two terms as National Treasurer and last term as Vice President have shown me how far CHW has come both in recent years and in our 100 year history. I am ready to do MORE and do my part to continue to support our beloved projects in Israel and in Canada.

Stephanie Rusen (CHW Vancouver)

In December 2005 l went to my first CHW meeting, immediately felt at home, and never looked back. I knew about CHW, even volunteered at the Bazaar in Calgary and Vancouver, but never belonged. Once l joined l found out about our projects and how we help. I began volunteering wherever l could, moving up the ladder until l became Vancouver Centre President. Becoming a Director is the next step in my CHW journey as l will be a part of shaping the path CHW will take into the future. CHW changes lives, bringing hope to everyone we touch. It is up to us to make sure our organization continues to grow. I look forward to working with these dedicated women!

Linda Senzilet (CHW Ottawa)

In the nearly 40 years since joining this wonderful organization, I have held executive positions at both the Chapter and Centre levels. In 2014, I participated in a mini-mission to Israel.

Seeing first-hand the enormous difference that CHW makes in so many lives was a lifechanging experience. Upon my return, I became the Co-President of CHW Ottawa, and have remained very active since. With all of my experience and my strong belief in the extraordinary value of CHW, I feel that now is the right time to take my participation to the next level and become a member of the National Board of Directors.

Brondell Shapiro (CHW Toronto)

I would like to be a member of the Board of Directors of CHW in order to be a part of the decision making process with like minded committed persons. We support amazing projects and services which bring Israeli families the necessities of life. We also provide them with outstanding hospitals and welcoming, vital daycare centres. Women are able to find safety from abusive situations. Educational institutions such as the Hadassah Academic College teach women vital skills often their first time at that level and integrate them with different members of Israeli society. Almost all graduates are able to find employment and thus contribute to society. We make a difference in the lives of Israelis and give them hope for the future.

Tova Train (CHW Toronto)

This is my opportunity to gather all that I’ve learned in my chapter and in the CHW Toronto

Centre and help navigate our organization’s national initiatives. I am so proud to be affiliated with an established and responsive charity. I believe that we impact the future of Israel by nurturing its citizens. I also believe that working for the State of Israel nurtures my soul, our souls, here in Canada. These are the reasons why I aspire to be a CHW National Director.
