The introduction of electronic government procurement (e-GP) systems is one of the most powerful vehicles available for achieving high standards of transparency, accountability and efficiency. e-GP is an important tool in preventing corruption, increasing productivity and creating business opportunities for small and medium enterprises. The Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) Working Group on e-GP (comprised of the Asian Development Bank, the African Development Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank) provides technical advice on e-GP reform to member countries. As one of its initiatives, the group launched the e-GP Community of Practice during the III Global Conference on Electronic Government Procurement, which was held in Washington, DC in November 2009.
