Better Conditions for Productivity (MAP)
What is MAP? The IDB’s Better Conditions for Productivity, Mejora del Ambiente Productivo (MAP), provides technical assistance to reduce or eliminate barriers to private sector growth in Latin America and the Caribbean. The MAP contributes to productivity growth by financing relevant activities and research to: • Improve coordination between the public and the private sector, support consensus building on productive development policies, and overcome market failures • Reduce or eliminate unnecessary regulatory, administrative, and institutional barriers that increase business costs
A Public-Private Initiative Governments and private sector institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean committed to improving the productive environment of the region and their countries can participate in the MAP by submitting proposals and ideas on specific solutions in response to periodic calls for proposals at:
www.iadb.org/map/en
Calls for Proposals In order to draw from the expertise of the region, calls for proposals are made several times a year and are published on the IDB’s website at: www.iadb.org/map/en. Proposals are evaluated by a review committee made up of the Capital Markets and Financial Institutions Division, the Multilateral Investment Fund, and the Bank’s Research Department.
Available Resources through Periodic Calls for Proposals The MAP provides up to €125,000 per award to develop and execute projects that expand the knowledge base of best practices, generate innovative solutions, and/or apply rigorous empirical methods to measure impact. Research projects that contribute to financial and private sector development policy will also be accepted on a selective basis, with up to a maximum of €15,000 in funding per award.
