CIMA professional development CPD is a compulsory requirement for all CIMA members, as well as for members of other professional accountancy bodies. CIMA professional development is the continuing professional development scheme for CIMA members. It supports you in your career by helping you identify your future learning needs. CIMA Mastercourses can form an effective part of this scheme.
How it works Unlike other schemes, CIMA doesn’t prescribe specific activities or number of units or hours. Instead, CIMA’s policy gives you the freedom to decide how you are going to develop, so that you can focus on activities that are relevant to your role and to your individual development needs. As business becomes increasingly complex, this approach allows CIMA members to remain up-to-date and relevant.
CGMA Competency Framework The CGMA Competency Framework is designed to help management accountants and their employers understand the knowledge requirements and assess the skills needed for both current and desired roles. It is underpinned by the need for objectivity, integrity and ethical behaviour and includes a commitment to continuously acquire new skills and knowledge. Depending on where you are in your career and/or where you aspire to be in the future, the framework provides a structure of the knowledge requirements and helps you identify and assess the skills you need at various points in your career. For ease of reference, all relevant Mastercourses have been mapped to the CGMA Competency Framework. For more information visit www.cgma.org/competency-framework
CPD hours are included in this brochure for members of those professional bodies where CPD hours are required. To help structure your development, all CIMA members are required to work through the CPD cycle each year. This framework helps you define what you need to do; assess your current abilities and identify gaps in your knowledge; design a plan to fill those gaps; take action by working your way through the training; then reflect on what you’ve achieved and evaluate what you still need to do. You must keep a record of your activities.
