inter is coming… and whilst we LOVE long cold walks with the dogs, and sitting by the fire with a glass of wine, we certainly don’t love what it does to our skin! So on page 14 we’ve put together some face-saving products and treatments to keep dry skin at bay, and help protect exposed skin from everything the season can throw at it. Beauty from within is a concept that is hard to argue with – good food and plenty of exercise really do lead to a glowing complexion. So on page 20 we take a look at some fitness equipment that can be installed in spas to encourage clients to take up an exercise regime, whether that’s hard-core cardio or yoga-based routines, and then,

keeping with the theme, on page 40 we add to this with some nutritional ideas – and some ‘I’m a celebrity’ inspired snack bars – weird but wonderful! pa Naturel is located in Walton Hall, Warwickshire - a 16th century country mansion at Walton, near Wellesbourne, which was once owned by Lord Field, and later by the entertainer Danny La Rue. Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa joined the Mercure brand in October 2015 following the signing of a management contract with Amaris Hospitality Limited. Along with the country mansion there are 11 apartments and a 149 bedroom hotel in the grounds. Driving down the mile-long driveway, guests get the feeling of escapism as they approach the Hotel and country Hall and will receive a warm welcome from the spa team upon arrival. there is a contemporary fitness suite, should guests want to work-out, or they can take a dip in the large pool. Walton has a recently refurbished large Spa Lounge to unwind pre and post treatment, guests are invited to sit with friends whilst relaxing on the contemporary leather sofas with a refreshing drink. there are seven treatment rooms, each perfectly prepared for the ultimate treatment experience.

My LIFE… tanya Zahoor is the co-founder of Aesthetics Lab in Primrose Hill, a five-star clinic “that bridges the gap between the precision and efficacy of a cosmetic clinic and the hospitality and pampering of a spa.” What’s your background – have you always worked in health/beauty? Prior to opening an aesthetic business I spent around 10 years focusing on entrepreneurial ventures across a range of industries, including hospitality, entertainment and commodities. How do you start your day? My day starts early as I have two young children and I always make time for a healthy breakfast with the kids before dropping them to school on my way to the clinic. Most days I will drop in to a reformer pilates or a barre class before I get to the clinic. Do you stop for lunch or graze? It will depend on how hectic the day is. I do always try to have a lunch even if it’s a quick salad eaten while responding to e-mails. but there will be days when I would have fruit or drink a coffee to keep hunger at bay while driving to a meeting. How do you unwind? Spending time with family is the way I unwind, even if it’s just cuddles on the sofa with my kids at the end of the day.

A regular dinner out with my husband is something I look forward to every week and of course Sunday spent with kids, walking in the park or having brunch at our regular spot. What’s the secret to your success? Early start to the day – even on a weekend – to make sure I get to do everything planned for the day and more. Healthy diet and exercise to ensure I am full of energy – an occasional cup of coffee helps too. Doing what I love and am passionate about is also very important as you cannot run a successful business if you are not passionate about it! What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given? And what advice would you pass on? Love what you do, and be passionate about it. Do you have a philosophy? If you want to achieve something you have to work hard at it and you will get there. Do not be put off by obstacles or failures. Just try harder. Always treat people the way you want to be treated.

What goes around does come around! What’s your favourite skincare product? My current favourite skincare product is Define by cosmedix, it is a blend of retinol and AHAs that work wonders on the skin to reduce imperfections and fine lines while evening the skin tone. Do you take nutritional supplements? I do. Omega 3 and 9, pro- and prebiotics, as well as a powdered blend of super foods mixed with water. What do you think is the most exciting thing to happen recently in your sector of the spa industry? I find the shift from invasive treatments towards non-invasive and minimally invasive treatments with minimal downtime and amazing results most exciting. the technological breakthrough within the aesthetic industry has been phenomenal which means we can cater to clients needs without having to send them for surgery. www.aestheticslab.co.uk
