BENEVOLENCE Organizations Directory
Mississippi Conference of The United Methodist Church
INTRODUCTION “The Mission Continues” has been the theme for The Mississippi Annual Conference for this year and will continue to be the theme as we move into 2021. It is a powerful message for all of us as we are living in times of a 100-year Pandemic and divisions among us that seem to grow daily. But we serve a God of hope and on-going possibilities for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ! We must not forget the teaching from Mark 16:15 which tells us “As you go into all the world, proclaim the gospel to everyone.” This message is as essential today as it has always been. These missions have been and continue to be the “hands and feet” of Christ in a hurting world. Included in this directory are 21 of our Mississippi Conference benevolences. These mission entities have been an important area of mission in our conference for generations. Some of these are in our Mission Shares giving and some are not. Some may be very familiar to you and others not so much. We are asking that you prayerfully review the videos and information provided. If you need more information their contact information is also included, and they would love to hear from you and talk with you further about the work of their ministry. In the months of this Pandemic many of the missions have struggled to make ends meet financially but have continued in the work of providing a space for lives to be transformed. I know that as you look at this directory you will be reminded of times in which your life or the life of someone you love has been affected by one or more of these ministries. I want to thank the Conference Finance and Administration Committee (CFA) for their affirmation for this directory during these trying times. As the United Methodist congregations in Mississippi continue to wrestle with next faithful steps in ministry, I am reminded of the POWER of We that has not and will not ever forsake us. The POWER of the Holy Spirit empowers and challenges us daily to be the people God has called us to be. And there is nothing we cannot do if we work together as the people of God. Blessings, Rev. Vickie White, Director Connectional Ministries and Communications The Mississippi Annual Conference of the UMC
