The Department of Education and Skills is delighted to continue its support for the Dublin Cinemagic Film and Television Festival in 2016. Since 2008, the festival has provided a unique opportunity for young people to gain an insight into the worlds of film-making and to meet with industry professionals through participation in master classes and workshops. Cinemagic initiatives such as the cross-border jury, young film critic competitions and cross-border film camp provide young people from both jurisdictions on the island of Ireland with unique opportunities to engage and interact with their peers from across the island and to share their interest and opinions on films produced specifically for children’s audiences. Special effects is without a doubt a highly creative and fun area in makeup artistry. It allows you to create any creature or character you can imagine, as whacky or scary as your heart desires! It also serves a real purpose. With storylines becoming more sensational and technology more sophisticated, special effects is becoming an increasingly important element of both film and theatrical productions. Join special effects artist Triona Gogarty as she teaches participants the basic skills and techniques of make-up artistry!
At the Industry Trust for IP Awareness they believe when you learn about all of the hard work (graft) that goes into the creation of a film - you get more of a handle on why it’s not yours to take for free. Plus you can better understand why the real life people who invested their time, skills and money in making the film deserve to get paid for their work. When we all understand the importance of supporting the film industry and paying for the films we watch then there will be more films made to enjoy in the future. To celebrate the hard work that goes into every aspect of the Film industry in Ireland, we are teaming up with the Industry Trust and an industry specialist from Walt Disney Motion Pictures, Ireland to tell you about their job, the jobs along the way and why they love movies. The Q&A will be followed by a preview screening of a surprise film! Learn more about the Industry Trust and watch their fantastic ‘Moments worth Paying For’ campaigns on www.lovemovies.ie

Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg? - On their summer camp holiday, four misfit kids suspect that the park’s mascot has been murdered but no-one believes them so they set out to investigate - Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg? These four kids Billie, The Colonel, Woody and Shiv immediately suspect the camp’s new manager Diane (played by Bonnie Wright - Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter) and they try to build their evidence. But the kids get quickly in over their heads and they realise they’re going to have to use all their childlike savvy if they’re going to solve this crime! A film full of comedy, action and intrigue that takes place on Dorset’s stunning Jurassic coastline.
Lily’s Driftwood Bay - Lily is a six-year-old girl with an imagination big enough to create an entire island! She is sweet and charming but rough and tumble in equal measure. She lives an idyllic and organic existence with her Dad in their beach hut, where the sand dunes and sea provide the perfect backdrop for her remarkable imagination.
