Alison is a multi-award winning PR professional who has delivered a range of impactful strategic communications campaigns for the financial services, rail, aviation and education sectors. She has a strong record of achievement in senior roles leading media relations, internal communications, crisis management and public affairs, and an MSc in Public Relations from the University of Stirling.

Kate is the director of Capital B Media, an agency based in Yorkshire that offers media training and PR consultancy. Kate was a BBC journalist for more than 20 years, working mainly in radio, but also in TV and print media. Her media training clients include the NHS, police, fire, local authorities and charities. She is a trainer for the Cabinet Office-run Emergency Planning College and has a City & Guilds training qualification.

HEATHER BAKER MCIPR TOPLINE COMMUNICATIONS Heather is founder and CEO of B2B digital communications consultancy, TopLine Communications. TopLine helps clients engage directly with their target audiences by designing and implementing integrated and digital lead generation strategies that bring together public relations, video, social media and content search marketing. CAROLINE BLACK FCIPR CAROLINE BLACK LTD Caroline is a highly experienced communications specialist who started her career in advertising with Publicis working for WH Smith, Mars and Pedigree Petfoods. She then switched to the client side as PR manager for Guinness Brewing. STUART BRUCE FCIPR STUART BRUCE ASSOCIATES Stuart Bruce is an award-winning internationally recognised public relations adviser specialising in integrating digital and social media into public relations strategy. He has 25 years’ experience and is one of the world’s first PR bloggers, writing ‘A PR Guy’s Musings’ since 2003. He was co-founder and managing director of one of the UK’s first online PR consultancies growing it in three years into a PRWeek Top 150 Consultancy.

She advises at board level on leader communication and reputation management for a range of blue chip organisations, including Jaguar Landrover. For 16 years she directed the MA in Public Communication programme for the Government Communication Network at Leeds Trinity University College. She has worked at 10 Downing Street and is a member of the Cabinet Office Communications Review team.

DANNIE LU CARR DANNIE LU CARR CONSULTING Dannie works as a consultant & business writer (published) where she troubleshoots for a range of companies, mainly focusing on creativity and strategy, leadership, pitching and presenting and areas around confidence and assertiveness, including negotiation, change management and conflict management. Her other work is as a director, acting coach and script writer and she is also the director of Flaming Poppy Productions.

Magnus is a freelance trainer and consultant in message development, media handling, issues and crisis communications, and reputation management. Magnus is an Associate of Bristol Business School and a tutor at Ashridge Business School. He is a non-executive director of Mentor, a training consultancy and digital agency which he co-founded in 1998.

Leona is a registered occupational psychologist and chartered member of the British Psychological Society. Leona specialises in changing behaviour within the workplace and has helped organisations bring life to new cultures and values; worked with dysfunctional teams to create synergy and developed individuals towards achieving their full potential.

MAUD DAVIS FCIPR MAUD DAVIS PR Maud runs her own food PR consultancy and PR training business. She is a marketing communications and campaigns specialist and in between handling PR for her food clients, she trains and mentors others through face to face workshops and e-learning sessions.

LORRAINE FORREST-TURNER MCIPR FREELANCE CONSULTANT Lorraine is a freelance communication skills trainer and a copywriter. She writes a wide range of printed and online publications for clients in the automotive, property, IT, healthcare and financial markets. JUDI GOODWIN MCIPR TRAINING CONSULTANT AND JOURNALIST Judi is a freelance journalist and trainer with wide experience in both print and broadcast media. She specialises in helping professionals in PR and corporate communications to develop a journalistic writing style. Judi began her training career with the University of Manchester and has run in-house courses for The Children’s Food Trust, Lloyds TSB, The Scottish Environment Protection Agency, The Royal Mint, the NUJ and IPC Magazines.

LAUREL HETHERINGTON FCIPR FREELANCE TRAINER Laurel is a teaching fellow in PR at Newcastle University and academic tutor at the University of Sunderland where she leads the CIPR Diploma course. She is also a PR examiner for CAM/CIM. Coming from a marketing background, Laurel now works as an independent practitioner and a trainer.

COLIN KELLY MCIPR COLIN KELLY MEDIA Colin is a former BBC journalist who now runs his own media relations and social media training company. Over the last three years Colin has delivered workshops to more than two thousand clients throughout the UK, including Scottish Natural Heritage, Skyscanner, Wightlink Ferries, sportScotland, several Members of the Scottish Parliament and small/medium business owners. Colin has a BA Journalism from Edinburgh Napier University and was one of the first mainstream media personalities in the UK to use the Twitter social network.

UNA MCSORLEY FCIPR MARCOMM UnaMcSorley is managing director of Marcomm, a PR and training consultancy specialising in communications. She is the only CIPR trainer in Ireland and was awarded a Fellowship with the CIPR for her outstanding contribution to the CIPR and the public relations industry. She has over 20 years’ experience working across all sectors.

Andrew is managing director of Escherman, a specialist online PR, SEO and analytics consultancy. With a career spanning 29 years of public relations and journalism, he has developed and implemented many highly successful strategic PR and marketing communications programmes for some of the world’s biggest brands including IBM, CapGemini, MySQL, Apple (FileMaker) and Checkpoint. KERRY SAVAGE MCIPR SAVAGE COMMUNICATIONS Kerry is the director of Savage Communications, a company specialising in skills training for the marketing communications sector. Victoria is chief executive officer of Northern Lights PR. She sits on a number of boards, is a BBC expert on social media and former director of Ernst & Young. Victoria ensures that all communications – from internal communication and traditional PR to the use of LinkedIn, Twitter and blogs – are strategic and deliver business results.

A chartered psychologist with a doctorate in psychology, Jon is a consultant in management and organisation development, public affairs, public relations and corporate communications management. He has acted as a consultant to public and private sector organisations worldwide. He currently works with the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the European Commission and Parliament on aspects of communication, internal and external to these institutions. He has written a number of books, articles and case studies on public relations management.

DR STUART THOMSON MCIPR PUBLIC AFFAIRS CONSULTANT Stuart is a public affairs and communications specialist advising clients on all elements of their public affairs strategies including corporate communications and reputation management issues. His work has included legislative lobbying, profile-raising, planning communications and he has also worked on a number of high profile media relations and crisis communications programmes for clients across a range of sectors.

JOHN WHYTE-VENABLES MCIPR NEWSCREWS John specialises in multimedia production, media interview skills and message management training. A former BBC radio, television and online journalist, and journalism instructor, John is an expert on news values and has written three books on the media.
