Peter Dee

b. Kerry, Ireland

Lives in Dublin, Ireland

“I am an artist because I have a deep love for painting. Since my teenage years, I have always enjoyed drawing and painting, but it wasn’t until I matured that I began to pursue art seriously. I am particularly drawn to still life because I appreciate the tranquility and vividness of objects on a tabletop, where they remain static under controlled lighting. My focus is on creating compelling shadows, highlights, and reflections that imbue the objects with depth and dimension. I strive to capture intricate textures in my art, whether it’s the ruggedness of rusted enamelware, the vibrant hues of various fruits, or the smoothness of a ceramic vase. When selecting a color palette, I aim to harmonize with the objects to achieve a visually appealing composition.”

Peter Dee’s work stands as a contemporary homage to the tradition of still life painting, characterized by a keen observational realism that captures the essence of everyday objects. Drawing parallels to artists like Giorgio Morandi, Dee’s paintings exude a meditative quality through the careful arrangement and subtle interplay of light and shadow. His meticulous technique highlights the textures and forms of mundane items, elevating them to subjects of quiet contemplation. Dee’s ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary places his work firmly within the lineage of classical still life, yet his modern sensibility and precise execution ensure its relevance in today’s art scene. His compositions, rich in detail and atmosphere, invite viewers to slow down and appreciate the intrinsic beauty found in the simplicity of daily life.

Jason John

b.1980, United States

Lives in Jacksonville, FL, USA

“As a portrait artist, the subjects that I address explore the interdependence of personal identity and memory through the development of human and environmental interactions. The environments that engulf my figures are ones of uneasiness and flux, acting as set stages where figures violently interact with art history icons, fruit festoons, contemporary landscapes, and billowing cloud formations.”

Currently represented by 33 Contemporary Gallery in Miami, FL, Jason John’s work has garnered significant recognition across various platforms. His art has gr aced the covers of esteemed publications and over the last decade, Jason has contributed to over 100 exhibitions worldwide.

John’s paintings carve out a distinctive niche in contemporary art, blending hyperrealism with surrealist elements. His meticulous technique evokes the precision of Old Masters, while his conceptual depth mirrors the introspective narratives found in the works of Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud. John’s art often delves into themes of identity and reality, placing his subjects in enigmatic, dreamlike settings that provoke contemplation. This synthesis of the real and the surreal situates John within the contemporary figurative painting movement, reminiscent of artists like Jenny Saville and Andrew Wyeth. His aesthetic, characterized by intricate detail and a moody palette, challenges viewers to explore the boundaries between the tangible and the abstract.

Michael Ian Goulding

b.1964, United States

Lives in Takoma Park, MD, USA

“I strive for my art to uplift the spirit and inspire appreciation for the beauty of life. I have been engaged in art for nearly my entire life, exploring various media and subjects with the aim of creating beauty. Ultimately, this journey led me to focus on capturing the beauty of the female form through black-and-white photography.”

Michael Goulding’s nude photography stands out for its refined aesthetic and deep appreciation of the female form. His use of black-and-white imagery recalls the timeless elegance found in the works of cla ssic photographers like Edward Weston and Helmut Newton. Goulding’s approach emphasizes the sculptural qualities of the body, using light and shadow to create dramatic contrasts and highlight the natural contours of his subjects. Goulding’s style can be described as both minimalist and intimate.

His “Bodyscapes” series transforms the human body into abstract landscapes, drawing parallels to the work of contemporary photographers like Ruth Bernhard. His careful composition and attention to detail ensure that each photograph is not merely a depiction of th e body but an exploration of form, texture, and emotion. This approach places Goulding’s work within the broader tradition of fine art nude photography, where the focus is on celebrating the inherent beauty and complexity of the human figure.

Goulding’s photography has received acclaim through prestigious exhibitions and publications. Noteworthy showcases include the 19th Pollux Awards and the World of Photography exhibitions at the FotoNostrum Gallery , 2023. His artistic journey was highlighted in the “Multiple Visions” exhibition at The Dennis & Phillip Ratner Museum in Bethesda, USA, 2013. Most recently, his work was featured in “The World of Photography,” (2023) a collection showcasing international photographers, by FotoNostrum Publishing .

JUDITH BEALE

“For this group of small works on paper, I wanted to work with a medium I believed would allow me to create clear linear expressions drawn from a semi-meditative state of mind. Watercolor would have been my first choice to achieve this objective. However, recently I purchased several new inks and decided to use them for this project. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the color and intensity of the inks made the images substantial without losing the delicacy of line or mark.”

Judith Beale earned her BFA degree from the University of Arkansas Little Rock campus in 1972, specializing in art and art history.

For the next two decades, she balanced a career as a freelance illustrator with managing a family real estate business. After her children left for college, Judith returned to academia, complet ing her MFA in Studio Arts with a focus on painting at the University of Memphis, Tennessee. Since 1992, Judith has exhibited her artwork extensively. Her portfolio includes solo exhibitions, group shows, and participation in local, regional, national, and international competitions. Her work has also been featured in various loca l, national, and international publications, highlighting her prolific career and dedication to the arts.

GIORA CARMI

“Every painting is done in two stages and accompanied by a poem. It is my process of evolution. The drawing is how I listen deeply to myself, where subtle energies create my world. I stop drawing when I feel that the process has ended. Then come the colors, which reflect this process from an even deeper, more loving and wise perspective. I stop when I feel that the process has ended. Finally, I ‘read’ the art with words, which often become a poem.”

MARCIO BRAVO

“A work of art is what it is, not what it could be. I could say that my biggest challenge in painting is portraying imaginary scenes, executing them like a Renaissance man, with a surrealist approach.”

b. 1961, Brazil
Lives in Vitória, Brazil

Born in Vitória, Brazil, in 1961, Marcio Bravo discovered his passion for drawing and sculpture at an early age. Introduced to oil painting at the age of 7 in a painting school, he quickly developed a deep affinity for the medium. In 1991, Marcio returned to his hometown of Vitória, where he continued his career as an illustrator, focusing on the real estate market. JOHN CHEHAK

“My medium of choice is acrylic on canvas and archival paper. I prefer acrylic paint for its quick drying time and ability to layer extensively. I also apply an acrylic clear coat as a finish to all of my work. While I have always enjoyed painting and drawing, I didn’t consider it as a profession until I was 48 years old. Now, 25 years later, I still eagerly anticipate discovering new subject matter. To date, I have participated in 80 juried art shows and sold more than 600 original works.”

John Chehak, a self-taught American artist since 1998, has made a mark with his vibrant acrylic paintings. His career highlights include exhibiting at the Governor’s Mansion in 2002 and gracing the January 2010 cover of JCMP magazine with his painting “Rooftops” . In 2015, his landscape adorned the MFA Creative Writing Program at Iowa State University, showcasing his emotive brushwork.

Chehak’s one-man show at the University of Iowa Medical Campus in 2016 further cemented his reputation for thematic depth and versatility. His acclaim continued with honors such as being chosen as the Commemorative Print Artist for the 25th Annual St. Louis Art Fair , 2018 and as the poster artist for the 57th Street Art Fair , Chicago, 2020.

Using acrylic on paper and canvas with brush and palette knife, Chehak emphasizes vibrant colors, symmetry, and compelling presentation. He has participated in over 80 regional shows, selling approximately 600 original paintings meticulously framed and ready-to-hang on archival paper.

Critics have noted the evolution of Chehak’s work, praising its vibrant colors and captivating compositions. His ability to infuse each piece with narrative depth and visual allure continues to captivate collectors and art enthusiasts, solidifying his influence in contemporary American art.

“The creation of my work is a spiritual ritual that involves a dialogue with the subject, materials, and myself, often guided by the grace of unwritten poetry. At times, it feels like channeling the entire history of art that precedes me into the current work. When everything aligns perfectly, I feel like merely a vessel through which magic flows. This current series is inspired by both nighttime and daytime dreams of my interaction with the subject.”

ERIC CREMERS

“Though my work may have kind of a sloppy appearance, I am very accurate when choosing the colors, size, position and texture of all details. In my artistic view my Favela’s are some kind of construction that appear in a sculptural shape. Though everything has a clear third dimension, almost all my works are hung on the wall.”

Eric Cremers began his artistic journey captivated by history and cultural diversity. Graduating from art academy in 1979, he taught high school art for 28 years before committing to a full-time art practice in 2011.

Since then, Cremers has exhibited his work across Holland, the USA, and Bonaire, the Dutch Caribbean island he has called home since 2012. Inspired by Bonaire’s natural beauty and diverse materials, Eric’s art revolves around the theme of ‘Habitats’ . Initially grounded in realism, his creations have evolved into imaginative interpretations, notably focusing on ‘Favelas’ —dense urban settlements—as his primary subject.

Cremers challenges viewers to immerse themselves in his detailed artworks, crafted from reclaimed materials such as wood, branches, palm leaves, cardboard, and discarded computer parts. Though primarily designed for wall display, his sculptures evoke a tangible sense of three-dimensionality. With meticulous attention to color, size, texture, and spatial arrangement, Cremers enhances the narrative depth of each piece, conveying the resilience and creativity found within constructed environments.

DONELLI J. DIMARIA

b. 1946, United States Lives in Santa Fe, NM, USA

“I aim to depict objects of beauty, each with its own story, whether it’s a figurative painting, still life, or landscape. I achieve this using classical painting techniques infused with contemporary themes. I incorporate color theory inspired by the Impressionists and compositions reminiscent of the Modernists to amplify the drama created by the strong underlying value patterns in my work.”

Donelli J. DiMaria captures intimate, everyday moments with exceptional realism and warmth. His attention to detail and mastery of light reflections create lifelike scenes that resonate with tranquility and introspection.

DiMaria’s work blends technical skill with a gentle, human touch, making ordinary moments profoundly beautiful and evocative.

Over the years, Donelli has cultivated a distinctive painting style that can best be described as Contemporary Realism. His app roach seamlessly merges the classical techniques of line, form, edge, and value from old-world masters with the vibrant brushwork, c olors, and light effects reminiscent of the Impressionists. However, what sets Donelli’s style apart in the contemporary art scene are his innovative compositions and the way he applies paint to the canvas. His artworks marry traditional craftsmanship with a contemp orary aesthetic, inviting viewers into a world where timeless techniques meet modern sensibilities.

“My approach to art is a pursuit of creation for its own sake, echoing the principles of l’art pour l’art. The essence lies in the process of artistic creation, with less emphasis on the final outcome. At first glance, viewers may struggle to identify the subjects in my work. I intentionally focus on subjective perspectives, revealing only a fragment of the whole. Consequently, the subjects may appear differently than they would in reality, viewed from a conventional perspective.”

GEORG DOUGLAS

“I like my paintings to be strong, whether through color, form, or another element. I want them to evoke an immediate reaction, whether confronting viewers or drawing them into the work. They don’t require much analysis or philosophical consideration, but rather appeal to emotions and create an atmosphere. The worlds of flowers and Irish dance have been my inspiration for some time.”

Zdene Flerin’s work epitomizes meticulous geometric abstraction, reminiscent of Agnes Martin’s disciplined grid paintings. Utilizing a technique of precise line work and layered colors, Flerin constructs intricate, plaid-like patterns that challenge the viewer’s perception of depth and space. The texture created through the raised lines of paint adds a tactile dimension, echoing the physicality of textile art. Flerin’s integration of color theory and structural precision invokes the legacy of Modernist abstraction while imbuing it with a contemporary sensibility. This interplay of form and hue showcases a masterful control over the medium, making each piece a vibrant exploration of visual harmony and complexity.

“I am looking for harmony of colours and contrasts to make me feel calm. I would like the observers of my art to share the same feeling. My art is a quest for balance and harmony. Through my use of rich, contrasting colors and bold lines, I portray complex human emotions on canvas to provoke thought and inspire harmony. I draw inspiration from the works of Gerhard Richter and have been perfecting his unique oil-painting technique for the past 12 years, although my passion for art originated in childhood.”

FONG FAI

“Time” is a recurring theme that I strive to capture on canvas. It represents a fleeting yet infinite and eternal concept—a highly abstract theme.”

Fong Fai, a graduate of the Hong Kong Academy of Art, emerged as a leading artist in Hong Kong. With his own gallery, Fong’s Art Gallery , and teaching at the Oriental Arts Institute, Fai’s influence grew. His artworks were exhibited across Asia, Australia, and North America before he was invited to showcase his paintings in San Francisco and Hawaii.

Fong Fai’s dynamic approach to abstract expressionism echoes the fervor of early pioneers like Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning. Fong employs bold, sweeping brushstrokes and vibran t colors to convey raw emotion and movement. The artist’s technique of layering thick impastos creates a tactile, almost sculptural surface that draws viewers into the energetic chaos o f the composition. Each piece by Fong is a visceral exploration o f color and form, blending spontaneity with deliberate markmaking to produce a powerful visual impact. This intricate inte rplay of texture and hue places Fong’s work firmly within the lineage of abstract expressionism while infusing it with a contemporary vitality.

Harry Goldstrom’s photography can be seen as a modern continuation of the pictorialism movement, which emphasized the artistic quality of photography, often through careful composition and a painterly approach. His work, characterized by meticulous balance and vibrant color schemes, aligns with the principles of this movement, yet it also incorporates elements of contemporary styles. His black-and-white photographs, such as those in the “Abandoned in Place” series, evoke the tonal subtleties of Ansel Adams’ work, using contrasts and shadows to create depth and emotion.

Goldstrom’s compositions often feature a strong sense of symmetry and balance, which is evident in his architectural shots. The use of vibrant colors and precise framing in his “Color Landscapes” and “Color Architecture” collections reflects a modern aesthetic that emphasizes clarity and vividness. His black-and-white photography employs a classic style, utilizing contrast to highlight textures and forms. Overall, Goldstrom’s work bridges historical techniques with modern sensibilities, offering a rich visual experience that is both evocative and technically p roficient.

HARRY GOLDSTROM

“Photographically, I believe in a symbiotic relationship between the landscape and music, particularly my favorites: Classical and Jazz. When photographing landscapes, I find elements of form and symmetry omnipresent, drawing a comparison between the landscape as a symphony and a musical score. My photographs not only capture how I envision a scene but also aim to convey the emotions I experience while viewing one symphony and simultaneously listening to another.”

YIANNIS GALANAKIS

“I aim to present a ‘teased’ reality infused with elements of fantasy. I view my pieces as narrative passages, cinematic frames, or reflective essays on our fragmented, fluid, and transient world— metaphors for diverse perspectives and responses to the pressing issues of our modern era. My focus is on evoking an unfolding narrative, employing imagery as a language to access the reality of the ‘unwritten’ world.”

Yiannis Galanakis’ work vividly captures the complexities and contradictions of contemporary life. His website showcases a compelling portfolio of digital collages that blend surrealism with socially-aware imagery.

Each piece is a meticulously crafted tapestry of disparate elements, creating a cohesive narrative that challenges the viewer to look beyond the surface. Galanakis’s style is a modern reflection of the Dada and Surrealist movements, utilizing digit al media to push the boundaries of traditional collage techniques. His work engages with contemporary art trends that emphasize the fragmentation and reconstruction of images to explore deeper psychological and societal issues. By merging elements of the absurd with critical realism,

Galanakis creates a visual language that resonates with the chaotic and often disjointed nature of modern existence. His use of digital tools to manipulate and layer imagery situates his work within the post-internet art movement, which critiques and utilizes digital culture as both subject and medium. In doing so, Galanakis not only aligns himself with historical avant-garde practices but also advances the discourse of digital art in the 21st century.

GOLFO ART

“To me, each new painting is a new experience—I live it anew with every brushstroke. I feel exhilarated diving deep into the unknown world of the blue sea with each new piece of art I begin. While I relish every brushstroke with a new color that glides across my canvas, the ultimate satisfaction comes when my creation speaks to me in my own language!”

Golfo’s paintings merge impressionist precision with contemporary abstraction. Her abstract works feature bold, sweeping brushstrokes and a vivid palette, reflecting the emotional depth and spontaneity of Abstract Expressionism. This dynamic interplay of color and form invites viewers to engage deeply with her emotive explorations.

In contrast, her floral and landscape paintings exhibit the delicate precision of impressionism. The floral compositions are detailed and harmoniously colored, capturing nature’s ephemeral beauty, while the landscapes evoke serenity and contemplation. Across all her works, Golfo maintains a sophisticated balance of composition, color, and texture, creating pieces that are visually striking and evocative.

“Art has accompanied me throughout my life.

The motivation to paint arises from a yearning for the peace found in the process of creation. Recently, I’ve been exploring what is truly important and real versus what is false and irrelevant.

My intention is not to simply encourage good or punish evil, but rather to sublimate these experiences by capturing and expressing the emotions that are suppressed in interpersonal relationships. “My artwork is deeply inspired by visual storytelling. I delight in capturing my subject’s essence through vitalizing details, both on the surface of the artwork and in the narrative behind it.

Using a mixed media approach allows me to combine the freedom of bold washes with the precision of drawing. Building the piece layer by layer enables me to meticulously explore all its intricacies. Weaving these details together into a cohesive visual story is where I discover my greatest artistic passion.”

VANESSA ONUK

“My own observation of my works focuses not on subtleties and details, but rather on reducing them to shapes, colors, and feelings. The details emerge from the viewer’s previous experiences and memories; our minds naturally seek associations and connections with what we have encountered before. Therefore, looking at the images offers a sometimes unique experience for each viewer. The intention of my pictures is to provide a framework, allowing emotions and memories to arise individually in the viewer.”

Vanessa Onuk is a self-taught artist based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, whose passion for abstract art with bleeding colors and transparent layers dates back to her childh ood. Using organic cotton or linen canvases, Vanessa achieves her desired effects by layering acrylic paint with var ying degrees of coverage and pre-watering techniques. This method results in natural color gradients, bleeding, and transitions, contrasting with sharp lines and geometric shapes. Specializing in abstract landscapes and figurative repre sentations, Vanessa is drawn to large-scale formats for her landscape paintings. Her technique leaves a matte finish on the canvas, enhancing the unique surface texture and creating a vintage effect as the paint permeates rather than sits atop the material.

I developed this kind of photography to express in a stronger way the colours, the light, the atmosphere and the motion of nature. ANATOLY POPOV

“I am deeply convinced that a piece of art must give aesthetic pleasure to the viewer, inspire, and allow them to experience the beauty of the world independently from the selected topic.

In every work, I devote much attention to its plastic component: aesthetics and dynamics of the composition, the harmony of visual rhythms. The composition lies at the core, allowing me to convey the feeling and mood of the sculpture. At the same time, viewers can always find numerous details that catch the eye and invite closer examination. In some of my works, decorative elements can reveal the entire story.”

Anatoly Popov is a master of classical sculpture, whose works are deeply rooted in the traditions of ancient and Renaissance art. His sculptures exhibit a profound understanding of human anatomy and movement, reflecting the influence of Michelangelo and Bernini. Popov’s technique is marked by meticulous attention to detail and a sophisticated use of form and space. His pieces often explore mythological and historical themes, bringing a timeless quality to his work that resonates with contemporary audiences. CORIOLANA SIMON

“I have long admired the still life paintings by Dutch artists of the 17th ce. Not only do they provide a detailed view of Dutch culture, but they were painted in a style as realistic as photographs. Now, in the genre of ‘history photography,’ I create still lifes with my camera, using classic approaches to composition and lighting while never directly copying a painting.

Simon’s photography intricately reinterprets the meticulous realism of 17th-ce Dutch still life paintings through the lens of modern history photography. Her compositions leverage classical approaches to lighting and arrangement, offering a contemporary reflection on cultural artifacts. By capturing the spirit and style of Dutch masters, Simon’s work resonates with historical gravitas while inviting viewers to contemplate present-day cultural parallels. Her detailed, photographically realistic style maintains fidelity to classical art movements, merging historical reverence with modern sensibilities, resulting in visually compelling and thought-provoking still life images

Reconsidering the art of another culture from a different era and making it relevant for today is a complex idea to bring to one’s photographs. Nonetheless, I hope that my work not only reinterprets the styles but also captures the spirit of 17th ce. Dutch art, thereby reflecting back on our own culture.”

Interested in the semiotics of the figure, Robert Walker’s works derive meaning from the perceived cues of his models. He explores the interplay of organic figures with geometric forms, blending them harmoniously through a studied understanding of formal composition and color theory. Walker’s figurative outlines express his fascination with conveying the electric energy inherent in the human form. His use of ‘guard’ lines, a personal stylistic choice, serves to protect and emphasize the model.

Robert Walker is best-known for his geo-figurative artworks, featured in exhibitions such as FLUX ’s Anniversary Exhibition in London’s Piccadilly, opposite the Royal Academy, and Saatchi Art ’s The Other Art Fair . MARTI WHITE

“Painting from my gut instead of my head allows me to let my colors and media dictate the direction that the work will take as it develops. I am not concerned with what the painting means or if it looks like something. This frees up my inner self to communicate through my art. I can begin seeing more abstractly. Vibrant color gives the paintings sensuality and warmth. I want the viewer to see their own story in the work, and in that way, I have communicated. This is a very spiritual experience.”

Marti White’s artwork is a vivid exploration of color, texture, and form, weaving elements of abstraction and collage to create dynamic, layered compositions. Her pieces reflect influences from Abstract Expressionism, particularly the works of artists like Helen Frankenthaler and Mark Rothko, with a contemporary twist.

White employs mixed media techniques, utilizing paper, paint, and various textural elements to construct intricate landscapes and organic forms that evoke a sense of movement and depth. Her work stands out in the modern art scene for its emotive power and innovative approach to materials, making it a compelling study in abstract art’s ongoing evolution.

“A painting is a journey into the unknown for both the artist and the viewer, an exploration into uncharted territory. Any final conclusion may differ, but it is unique to both and equally valid.”

David W. Whitfield’s works evoke a sense of introspection and complexity, reminiscent of Egon Schiele’s emotive figuration. His use of line is both expressive and precise, capturing the vulnerability and intensity of human expression. The abstracted compositions build up fractured narratives, inviting viewers to piece together the emotions and stories within. Whitfield’s color palette, often warm and subdued, enhances the psychological depth of his subjects, bridging the gap between realism and abstraction. His work resonates with contemporary explorations of identity and the human condition, drawing from the rich tradition of modernist portraiture.

JAN WILLIAMS

“While my sculpture is mostly figurative, my recent work often incorporates wheels, stones, or writing. In this piece, I’ve omitted the figure. It combines a stone or rock, symbolizing stability and reliability, with a very unstable single wheel.

To me, it’s a humorous piece, and I hope its title will add a little bit more.”

Jan Williams’ sculptures blend an organic aesthetic with the rawness of industrial forms, evoking a deep engagement with materiality and form. His work often features elemental shapes and weathered textures, reminiscent of ancient artifacts or natural geological formations. Conceptually, Williams’ pieces can be linked to the Brutalist movement, emphasizing the raw beauty of materials and the integrity of form. His sculptures evoke a dialogue between nature and industry, echoing the works of postmodern sculptors like Richard Serra and the tactile, almost primal quality found in the work of Isamu Noguchi. Through his manipulation of metal and stone, Williams explores themes of balance, decay, and the passage of time, creating a visceral and contemplative experience for the viewer.

By sharing my story and connecting with other grieving parents to share their stories in my project, ‘The Invisibility Project,’ I hope to create visions not only of pain but also of hope.”

SYLVIA WUENSCHEWIENANDS

“I believe one purpose of art is to freeze a moment or mood in time, to pause life, either to allow time to ponder the object or to evoke the feeling that things are eternal and not subject to constant change and decay. Emotional impact usually matters more to me than the actual object, so I am always struck by color. Different colors create different moods. I take advantage of that and create lyrical semiabstract ‘mood pictures’ in photography and paintings.”

Art has been a lifelong passion for Sylvia, rooted in her diverse cultural experiences across Europe, Canada, and the US. Educationally accomplished, Sylvia holds a master’s degree in Education from the University of Bonn, Germany, and a master’s in Counseling Psychology from UBC, Vancouver, BC, Canada. Her professional path led her to develop and teach an innovative art history curriculum at Kollage Preschool of the Arts in California, where she cultivated a profound interest in art history, furthering her studies with a certificate from the College of San Mateo.

Alongside her educational pursuits, Sylvia dedicated herself to her own artistic endeavors—fine arts photography and painting. Her artworks, vibrant with bold colors, are imbued with deep emotional resonances drawn from nature, classical music, and spiritual narratives from various cultures. This emotional depth lends her art a mystical quality, evoking subconscious responses and touching viewers on profound levels.

Sylvia’s repertoire spans diverse styles, from plein air landscapes to dreamlike semi-abstract and abstract compositions, often organized into thematic series. Her commitment to artistic growth led her to earn a painting certificate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 2023, enriching her creative toolkit and expanding her artistic horizons.

A member of esteemed art leagues including the Palo Alto Art League and the Naperville Art League, Sylvia continues to contribute vibrantly to the artistic community in Chicagoland since her move in 2016. Her journey through art is a testament to her dedication to exploring emotions, cultures, and personal narratives, shaping compelling artworks that resonate deeply with audiences worldwide. HSIUNG YU

“In today’s overloaded contemporary visual art scene, I have remained dedicated to creating hand-painted artworks. In recent years, guided by my subconscious, I have employed my vibrant and diverse creative imagination to depict Taiwanese landscapes, native species, and various imaginative totems. This allows me to capture the unique beauty of Taiwan. My works are deeply rooted in my love for the land of Taiwan.”

Hsiung Yu, a University of the Arts London graduate, showcases paintings recognized at esteemed venues like New York Art Fair and Grand Palais Museum.

“Art is our sanctuary, a playful yet profound escape from the mundane and the ordinary. It opens our minds, challenges our perceptions, and provides a refuge from the routine and the propaganda that pervade our lives. In its embrace, we find the freedom to explore the depths of our emotions, the breadth of our imaginations, and the richness of human experience. Art is not just an adornment; it is our freedom to be different, a beacon that celebrates diversity and individuality in a world often constrained by the expected.”

Ronna S. Harris

“I am a woman, and my overall creative theme is internal perspective. This intimate cohesive thread connects all my series of artwork throughout my career. My goal is to transform the viewer into another realm: a world of intimacy and exploration. At first glance, they are just narrative examples of painting. The narrative, I desire, is to convey my concern on issues that affect our contemporary society. The repeating theme of my nature-based oil paintings is man’s impact on our environment that is causing climate change. The imagery I have chosen throughout all my series (figure, still-life, and nature-based) symbolizes this communication. I am asked, how do your nature paintings have an internal dialogue? They are all my intimate vision of life. My goal is obtained with closer inspection, and the viewer is moved into this realm of intimacy.”

Ronna S. Harris’s paintings are firmly rooted in the American Realism movement, characterized by a meticulous attention to detail and an evocative use of light. Her work often focuses on landscapes, spaces, and still lifes, capturing the quiet moments of everyday life with a sense of clarity and introspection. Harris’s paintings bring to mind the works of artists like Edward Hopper and Winslow Homer, who also depicted the subtleties of American life with profound realism. Her landscapes and interiors are imbued with a narrative depth, reflecting both the beauty and solitude of the scenes she portrays. Harris’s ability to convey mood and atmosphere through precise brushwork and a carefully chosen color palette makes her paintings resonate with a timeless quality that aligns with the traditions of American Realism.
