JB Canada Newsletter A Message From The Editor By: Ellie Saunders (CISV Calgary)
Welcome to the first ever JB Canada newsletter. This is the first issue of the newsletter after electing our new EH team for 2016-2017. One of the concerns expressed at NBM was that it was hard to connect with other chapters and that we were lacking communication. To combat this issue I thought it would be good to start a JB newsletter with different articles to help us as JB Canada stay connected as well as staying connected to JB international.

New Years Resolutions By: Stephanie Oulette (CISV USA)
For the past eight years I have made and kept New Year's resolutions. What started as a challenge ("there's no way you can do it!") on December 31st, 2008 developed into what I now consider a lifestyle. Each year of my life, beginning in 2009, has been defined by the resolution I set for myself going into it. Setting New Year's resolutions has been a challenge I have loved giving myself. It has caused me to look into the future, to set goals, to become creative, and to outdo no one but myself. A New Year's resolution is me against myself, a chance for me to do better and be better, to say "why not?!" to say "what about THIS!" and 365 days later to proudly exclaim "I did it again!" Keeping eight years worth of resolutions is something I have never met another person to have successfully done. I love getting the chance to share with someone my journey of resolutions, I love hearing about people's resolutions, whether they accomplished them, and why or why not, and I love encouraging I'm always open to suggestions for the upcoming year, and I get excited brainstorming and coming up with new challenges. Each DAY is an opportunity to say "no more THIS" or "I want to get better at THAT" or "I need to incorporate THIS into my everyday life!" Are you interested in setting a resolution for yourself? Are you curious about my struggles and successes over the last eight years? Looking for ideas, accountability, or answers? Shoot me an email and we can talk about it! I would love to be part of your journey! Steph (steph.cisv@gmail.com)

New NJR By: Jonathan Haggarty (CISV London)
Let me introduce my self. My name is Jon, and I'm the new junior NJR of CISV Canada. This upcoming year is going to be a great year for CISV Canada especially the JB. At NBM in Saskatoon we voted to create regional positions that will help spark new connection between regions and give the chapters a larger voice on voting matters. Santana and I are very excited for what this year brings, we have lots great ideas that we will share with you in due time. We are currently working to get the 2017 EH Team settled into their roles, and establishing a cross-country connection between all the chapters. This next year is going to be the most lit year for JB Canada and we can’t wait to get in touch with all of you and hear what we can do for you and your chapter to take CISV Canada to a whole new level in 2017.
