AP Day 1: Egg Stage Original
Typed He was my long trip. He took me everywhere, bought me everything. There was nothing that was going to hurt me. No one that could take me from him. Which is why when I was lonely, sad, hurt, at my ultime low I stuck to the trip. But other time, I would think that there was nothing better than to be with him, he was my everything, my love, he was my ride to the unknown, through the high and the lows. But for him, nothing was certain and I was very okay with that
because I knew that without him, I wouldn't have this journey.
1. Describe where you were when you started writing this piece & what was on your mind. During the time of this piece I was having a Lana Del Rey moment. I think you can see her influence on my piece. Her music is very dark, old school romance, and tragic. I try to put a character in her music which I think is conveyed in my writing. 2. What kind of sentences did you use? Are there other patterns you notice? I use a lot of simple sentences, some are incomplete but I still end the sentence with a incomplete thought. You can also see that in this piece of writing I use the word “but” to begin a lot of my sentences. A pattern I notice is that I use past tense “he was my”, and I also use present tense “I was very okay with that”. 3. What themes do you notice in this piece? The themes I notice in this piece is being happy in the unhappiness. I have never experience this but I know it’s something other people experience and I think my piece speaks to that. I also notice that my piece touches base on abusive relationships which is a conversation we're having a lot. 4. What were your intentions for this piece? Where do you see this piece going? My intentions of this piece was to just write about a character that might be feeling that dark, old school romance, and tragic Lana sings about. It was also a free writing prompt which is why I wrote about a journey because while writing I could have taken any direction. I see this piece becoming a short story that conveys a strong emotion, and emotion that leaves you uncomfortable, but it’s so alluring that you can’t stop thinking about it.
