A parent/child class. Much of a child’s early learning comes through physical activity. Our Kindergym program offers range-of-movement exploration activites where a child can climb, hang, jump, balance and bounce. In this healthy environment, the parent offers positive, encouraging, and helpful feedback. A skilled staff member is always on hand to assist. The equipment is rearranged each week to provide a new challenge. Parents are required to have infants in packs. Siblings are only allowed in class if registered. Child must be walking. Use make-up book in the Kindergym for missed classes due to illness or cancellation of a class. Prior to participation, a Hold Harmless form and information sheet must be completed. Kids ’N Dance
Children of all abilities are proud to be a part of our polished mini-productions of musicals that are fun, challenging, and engaging. Cast members learn to develop character, vocal technique, presentation, and dance skills. The Orinda Little Theater (4–8 year olds) sing, dance and perform a short play. The Youth Theater presents plays lasting about forty minutes with about 4–6 songs and the cast for 8–14 year olds present plays lasting about 1.5 hours with 10–12 songs. Participants are expected to independently study their lines, songs, and blocking (as scheduled) and to attend all rehearsals. Please have child prepare a song for the first day of class (except for Orinda Little Theater). Children do not have to know how to read for the Orinda Little Theater shows. Please read refund policy carefully, but absolutely no refunds or credits are issued once this program begins. Parents support the quality of our productions by donating a required six hours of time (or pay a $60 opt out fee). Most costumes are supplied, but parents are required to provide the basics. Additional charge for show tickets. Show days and times are subject to change. Location: Library, Garden Room No class 11/10, 11/24–11/27

In this foundation class your dog learns how to walk nicely on leash, sit and stay down, come when called, not to bolt through doors, to leave items alone, not to jump up, and how to behave when groomed or examined. With these skills, your dog will have a more meaningful life, be handy around the house, and be a welcome part of society. The first class of the session is mandatory, and you attend without your dog. Bring a copy of your dog’s vaccination records for the instructor to keep. Minimum age limit for handler is 16. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Location: Community Center, Founders Auditorium No class 11/27 Barcode Dates Day Time Res/Non

Literature History of European Civilization Ages 18Y and up
James Hadley
These popular multi-media lecture series provide a grand tour of European civilization. The lectures put the great creative accomplishments of the period in a context such that the connections between them and the history of which they are a part of may be understood. The visual arts, music, literature, and history are all here, treated from a thoroughly interdisciplinary point of view. Extensive use is made of slides, literary excerpts, and recordings. The Northern Renaissance
This popular multimedia lecture series tours the civilization of Northern Europe from 1300–1600. Van Eyck and Durer, Shakespeare and Luther, Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, as well as assorted composers, architects, saints, and soldiers are part of this popular program. Literature: Writing Your Family Story Ages 18Y and up
Ann Thomas
How much do your children and grandchildren know of your family history? Family membership matters and knowing our family’s stories is the manual for membership. It has always been the job of the family’s elders to pass on the stories to the next generation. In this class we learn how to write our stories in fun and interesting ways. If you’ve begun writing your family’s stories or are new to this type of writing and would like to begin, this is a class for you. We will learn how to write about our family history in scenes that will capture the interest of those who come after. We will explore what makes family members come alive on the pages, what details to include, and how our writing will capture and communicate the strengths and values of our family. This class is a gift to ourselves and to the children and grandchildren who follow.
