Learning how to express oneself with skill and confidence in groups and to groups, and with debate, persuade them, has immeasurable benefits in school, family and life. The Bay Area Debate Club offers a range of public speaking and debate classes and camps from beginner to advanced that focus on building just those skills and confidence. Among them are the learning the importance of knowing why and to whom you’re speaking, how to vary the tempo and tone of ones voice, how to use humor and body language and make it personal with interesting openings and memorable closes. There are other skills that learning debate help such as writing, research, weighing pros and cons, using logic and evidence and critical thinking. Via a Google Group, we let parents know what’s happening in class and invite them to the last class to see the Kids in Action!

The curriculum utilizes traditional and folk songs, chanting rhymes, and signing games that encourage the intellectual development of the children, while maintaining the playful character of the activity. Children’s musical play activities help them develop physical coordination, timing, memory, visual and language skills. PUPPY HEAD START (PUPS 9–20 WEEKS)
Your puppy has a lot to learn before the age of six months. Our Puppy Head Start class gives your pup the opportunity to meet and play with other dogs and people in a safe environment. We also put your pup on the right track for learning household manners and beginning obedience. We cover house breaking, chewing, leash training, and coming when called. This is a fun class, suitable for the entire family to attend. Bring proof that your pup is under veterinarian care. Minimum age limit for the handler is 16. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Bring a 6-foot leash and dog kibble the first day of class.
Now that your dog understands basic obedience let us help you move on to the next step. Our off-leash preparation classes teach your dog hand signals and voice control from a distance of twenty feet. Our goal is to help you train your dog to walk nicely at your side with your hands off the leash, drop to a down from a distance, come to heel position, and other behaviors that are invaluable for the family dog, those who wish to go on toward agility training, hunt work, or search and rescue. Please bring a copy of your dog’s vaccination records for the instructor to keep. Minimum age limit for the handler is 16. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Henry Fielding liked rogues and scoundrels, rascals who by nature simply couldn’t obey the rules of the stiff-lipped frauds that he saw dominating 18th British society, morally corrupt behind a thin veil of hypocritical propriety. Jonathan Wild thief and highwayman; Joseph Andrews and Parson Adams, ingenuous innocents who aren’t afraid of fighting the bad guys; Tom Jones, lusty and intemperate, but kind, generous, and deeply moral where it counts. Fielding sends these fellows on journeys that mock the old epic form and introduce us to the social, political and historical conflicts of mid-18th century England. Reading: Joseph Andrews, Tom Jones, and of secondary importance Jonathan Wild and Shamela Andrews.

These popular multi-media lecture series provide a grand tour of European civilization. The lectures put the great creative accomplishments of the period in a context such that the connections between them and the history of which they are a part of may be understood. The visual arts, music, literature, and history are all here, treated from a thoroughly interdisciplinary point of view. Extensive use is made of slides, literary excerpts, and recordings.
