Full-time care and programming from 7:30 am–6:00 pm, Monday–Friday for ONLY $370!!! • All summer camps $195/$224 (non-resident) for 9:00 am–12:00 pm or 1:00–4:00 pm at the Orinda Community Center • Or choose both an AM and PM camp for $350/$403 (non-resident)* • FREE** Lunch Bunch (12:00–1:00 pm) for those who register! • AM Extended Care (7:30–9:00 am) and PM Extended Care (4:00–6:00 pm) options available for $10/$12 (non-resident) each!

Get Paid to Have Fun! Have you ever wanted to work with children? Do you function well in a fast-paced, action-packed environment? Do you want to go on fun trips to Waterworld, Six Flags, Sky High and more? Camp Orinda may be the perfect opportunity for you. The City of Orinda is looking for motivated, personable, outgoing and fun-loving individuals to join our team as camp counselors this summer. Applications and additional questionnaire can be found on our city’s human resources page at: cityoforinda.org. Applications are due by closing on Friday, March 17th. We will be contacting applicants shortly thereafter to schedule interviews.

Summer Enrichment Program: Big Woods Adventure!
Eagles and Bobcats and Bears, Oh My! Join us this summer for a “Big Woods Adventure” as we offer our exciting entering First Grade program, and kick off our new Jump Start Kindergarten summer program especially tailored for students entering Orinda Kindergartens later in the Fall! We will explore the beauty and rich diversity of life found in the forested areas of North America. We will absolutely “get close to nature” as we study the amazing trees, majestic lakes, fascinating mountains, and most of all the astonishing animal life in the big woods! We will hear themed stories and tall tale folklore, create Big Woods crafts, draw and paint from wild nature, and much more. Every student will receive instruction in drawing, taking home their own sketchbook at program’s end, learn to sing many “ Around the Campfire” folksongs, and make a working Teddy Bear Climber” wood toy. Both programs will weave a bit of academic skills into our fun. Special Fun Fridays will feature activities and special guests (including animals!) along our Forest theme. JUMP START KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM: FOREST FRIENDS!
A self-contained 3-hour class. Our “Friends” fun features a 4-week Kindergarten preparation curriculum especially written to “Jump Start” incoming K-kids into school, lovingly taught by kindergarten specialists to ease students into a love of learning! The morning mimics a regular Kindergarten school day. Our “Big Woods” theme looks at some of the most interesting animals (bears, deer, skunks, porcupines, beavers, eagles, etc.!) and trees (redwoods, spruce, etc.) living in forests, with many related crafts and activities. Lots of fun and study for our newest students, with themed instruction in beginning reading, writing, math, science, music and art. We’ll even make a working “Back Woods” banjo! Every student will receive quality instruction in drawing, singing and wood craft. It’s “Big Woods” fun, summer enrichment style! Join us as we hike the trail to the new world of school! No camp 7/4.

Hear many related stories and “Tall Tales”, enjoy forest and nature-style crafts, and try your hand at Wilderness-style artwork, with reading, writing, math and science, and PE opportunities gently woven into the fun. We will investigate the marvelous ecology and interrelatedness that holds forests together so amazingly! We teachers strive to foster student investigation, creation, and expression. Extended Care Options Extended Care, AM
WEEKS: 1–10 The City is offering morning extended care from 7:30 am–9:00 am. Staff will provide games, activities and crafts for your child until it is time for their morning camp. At 9:00 am all campers will be dropped off at their morning camp (this only pertains to camps taking place at the Orinda Community Center and Pine Grove Park). Space is limited, sign your child up today and choose your own adventure! Pair morning extended care with lunch bunch and afternoon extended care to create an all-day (7:30 am–6:00 pm) camp for your child. AGES: 4–14Y

WEEKS: 1–10 Let us create a full day camp for you, as you choose your own adventure! Spend the summer enjoying one fun adventure after another! Join Camp Orinda and have a summer filled with great trips, games, nature walks, arts and crafts, skits, cooking, sports curriculum, guest presentations, special events, and all kinds of fun. Each session includes a different theme with excursions to places such as Lawrence Hall of Science, Waterworld, Exploritorium, Oakland Zoo... and more. Fees include all trip, entrance, and bus fees. Extended Camp includes more time for fun. Note that trips are subject to change. No camp July 4.
Visit two exciting locations that are sure to get your heart pumping. We will also be hosting a Bike Rodeo teaching bike and traffic safety along with games and prizes. This week’s adventures: Six Flags and Rock Climbing at City Beach. No camp July 4.

Little Veterinarian School allows students to explore the exciting world of veterinarians. A long, long time ago, in a galaxy called the Milky Way, Earth was born near a star called the Sun. Would you like to travel through time and space? Well that is what we will do! The story of the universe is an epic science saga of amazement. We will strap on our imagination caps and build a Super Science Time Machine to explore the universe. Journey into the past to traverse our Milky Way, and examine the elements that make up the universe and the human body—we are made of stardust from exploded supernovas! From Brain Goo to Mad Mucus, we’ll explore biology by traveling through different parts of our bodies. We will travel into the future to learn about genetics while making our own baby dragons! WEEK: 10 nventing means curiosity, practicality, necessity, cooperating and dreaming! Join us as we take students on a historical journey with a hands-on approach learning about some of the worlds’ greatest inventors from Leonardo da Vinci to Tesla to Thomas Edison to the Wright Brothers. We challenge our class to use their imaginations and creativity to survive on a deserted island by designing devices to capture food and water, by building bridges, shelters and even a boat to make it off the island. We will put our heads together to imagine the future in space focusing on creating inventions to protect space ships from damaging space rays and designing a safety capsules for payloads returning from space. We’ll delve into natural dyes found in plants and make our own paper! Blast off to fun when we explore rocket science and the physics of flight. Learn from the designs of great inventors like Alexander Graham Bell, Nikola Tesla, and Leonardo DaVinci. Discover the dynamic bustling city of organelles that is our cells. Take a journey through circuitry and test for “invisible” conductors. A fantastic week of experimenting with zany xylem, building your own rocket to launch and witnessing indoor lightning strikes! WEEK: 1 In this weeklong camp, children will have fun while learning about the scientific equipment they already own—the human body! Kids will explore the science behind cells, organs, muscles and bones through fun, hands-on activities. Campers will use micro slide viewers to see some of the tiny cellular machines that keep our bodies working and will play the “Cell game” to learn about the “stuff” inside cells. We will also look at other animals and creatures and how they have evolved to survive. Fun experiments will help campers understand more about their senses, brains, breathing, circulation and digestion. WEEK: 9 It’s time to get moving! From rowing to robots, “Make It Go!” moves and grooves! Mad Science and inventor Rube Goldberg know that young scientists have lots of potential for kinetic energy! Campers will jump, jam, and invent their own chain reaction machine. Launch your student into motion and engineering with hands on building that utilizes everyday items and technology. Get ready for some rockin’ robots and the science of circuits and sensors. Mad Science: Secret Agent Camp
WEEK: 1 The Mad Science Secret Agent Camp is a fun journey into the world of detection, spy science, and forensics. Campers will examine the science behind the spy tools made famous by the world’s greatest spies! We will reconstruct activities using scientific methods and use the science of cryptology to send and decode secret messages. Kids will get a chance to see what can’t be seen by the naked eye and will follow in Sherlock’s steps to learn what tracks can tell us! WEEKS: 3, 7 Spend time in the lab learning the tools and techniques that scientists use while conducting some great hands on projects. Discover systems in nature, even make your own paper! Learn animal adaptations and create an insect habitat. WEEKS: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 The Kids ’n Dance CIT Program is for older campers who are interested in taking on more responsibility and developing leadership skills. CITs are teamed up with an experienced instructor to assist a group of younger actors; CITs will learn how to instruct blocking, teach choreography, help kids memorize their lines and songs. They will also help children with costume fitting, free time, and snack.

WEEKS: 1, 9 Please join Andrea Gaspari on a magical adventure through enchanted lands and seas. Help Moana return the heart of Tefiti, build a snowman with Elsa and Anna, climb a beanstalk with Jack or go to the ball with Cinderella. Kiss a frog, or slay a dragon. Children of all abilities are invited to be a part of our polished productions of musicals that are fun, challenging, and engaging. Self-esteem skyrockets as members learn to develop character, vocal technique, presentation, and dance skills. Participants are expected to independently study their lines, songs, blocking, and attend all rehearsals. Most costumes are supplied, but parents are required to provide the basics. Show days and times are subject to change. Parents are asked to volunteer 2–4 hours helping with set up/break down, backstage, or bringing scenery back to Oakland. You may pay a $60 parent helper opt-out if you do not have time to help. There will also be a fee for show tickets. No refunds once program begins. All full-day participants MUST enroll in Extended Lunch Care. Plays for ages 4–8 last approximately 40 minutes with about 4–6 songs, and the children may be prompted during the play if needed. We do not hold formal auditions with the 4–8 group. The process is low key & designed to be fun. Teachers will invite anyone to sing a song on their own but it is not a requirement. Everyone will get a part whether they sing alone or not. Plays for ages 6–10 last approximately 50 minutes with about 6–8 songs. Plays for ages 8–14 last approximately 75 minutes with about 10–12 songs. Tennis Camps with Ron Noon
WEEKS: 1–10 The summer tennis camps with Ron Noon, USPTA Elite Pro and MA in Sports Psychology, and staff will challenge all levels of abilities. Tennis drills will be fun using games to enhance footwork and conditioning! Plus they will emphasize stoke production along with etiquette, rules, and scoring. The goal of the camp is for each participant to have fun and learn a lifetime sport. The number of participants is limited, so everyone will get individual and quality instruction. Registration Information Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and is required for all camps prior to participation. Register early as some camps fill quickly or may be cancelled prior to the first camp due to low enrollment. You are only notified if a camp is full or cancelled.

Registration may be cancelled up to 5 days prior to the scheduled class for a refund minus a processing fee of up to $20 depending on method of payment. Camps not meeting the minimum enrollment two weeks prior to the start of camp will be cancelled and a full refund issued.
Medication
If medication is needed (prescription or over the counter) a supplemental Parental Consent & Directions to Staff for the Self-Administration of Medications Form is recommended. Form available on our website(www.cityoforinda.org) or at the office.

Meet the summer day camp staff plus a variety of specialty camp instructors, and get all of your questions answered in person.
