Welcome to the 2017 WINTER PROGRAM SEASON! MAYOR’S MESSAGE
The temperature drops and days become shorter, but the level of activity in our community doesn’t slow down during the winter months.
Whether it’s getting outside for an afternoon of skating on one of our outdoor rinks, or enjoying the numerous festivals and events we have planned, we’re proud to have many options available for residents young and old to have fun and stay fit. If you would rather stay inside during our more frigid months, there’s still lots to do: check out a Shell Theatre performance; join some of the interesting art and heritage classes; visit the Public Library for some new books, movies and games; or register yourself and your family to the fitness, dance, yoga or swim lessons offered by the Dow Centennial Centre and Harbour Pool. Our Recreation and Culture teams work to offer a wide variety of programs at an affordable price. They constantly look at ways to give you new opportunities and to provide the fitness programs you want. There are also plenty of drop-in classes that can help you meet your fitness goals, regardless of your schedule. If you’re looking for a class we’re not offering now, our recreation team is always on the lookout for new offerings, and you can email them your suggestions at recinfo@fortsask.ca. We are also blessed to have many community groups offering a great variety of recreation, cultural and social activities and programs. While taking advantage of what the community is offering, you can also give back to the community by volunteering, such as becoming a “snow angel” to help a senior with snow shoveling.
