MAYOR’S MESSAGE As we enter the holiday season, I’d like to wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and good health and prosperity for the coming year. Winter months can seem dark and dreary but I know with all of the great activities you will find in this guide, you can turn those long days into a wonderful active and educational experience.

We are so fortunate in Fort Saskatchewan to have first class recreational amenities and a wonderful performance theatre for all of us to enjoy. We have everything from Belly Dancing to Painting so I’m confident that whatever activity you are looking for, you will find it right here. Maybe, you will discover a new passion! Register Your Child in a Fitness Program and Get a Tax Credit! The Government of Canada has established a tax credit to help make it possible for more children and youth to get involved in activities and sports. The Children’s Fitness Tax Credit can be claimed by parents who register their child under 16 years into programs and camps that incorporate physical fitness activities, on eligible amounts of up to $500.

5. A person is not considered registered unless payment for the program(s) has been received. 6. WAITING LISTS: If a program is full, please request that your name be put on a waiting list. If there is enough interest another class may be started and you will be contacted. 7. Program fees cover access to registered programs only on dates and times listed. 8. Program fees do not include facility admission before or after the program. 9. Payment for registered programs is required prior to participation. 10. Drop ins to registered programs are not permitted.

Program Withdrawals, Transfers, Refunds and Cancellations: 1. Refunds, transfers and credits for registered program(s) will be provided with written medical confirmation. Processing of refunds may take up to three weeks. 2. You may request a credit to your account instead of a refund. 3. You may request a transfer from one program to another, subject to availability. 4. In the event that the program does not fill to minimum requirements and results in our cancellation of the program, program fees will be refunded in full. 5. Classes which fall on statutory holidays will be cancelled. Please review registration confirmation for specific dates and times. Classes may also be cancelled due to maintenance, rentals or special events.

Dow Centennial Centre Auggie’s Place Childminding Centre (birth to 8 yrs) A popular and important feature, our childminding service provides parents with short term care while visiting the Centre, allowing you to enjoy the facility worry free! Your child will be happy and busy with our friendly childcare staff and there will be lots to entertain them during their visit! Childcare Prices $2.25 per child or $3.25 per family for each 30 minute slot or purchase a 10 hour punch card and save money!

Power Step & Skip

Start your weekend off right with 45 minutes of High Intensity Interval Training that will increase speed and agility and is guaranteed to get you sweating! This workout will be followed by a 15 minute bonus stretching session.

Not your average step class! Faster beats per minute, athletic moves and rope skipping intervals will build that cardiovascular endurance you’re looking for while blasting calories.

Core Tri Ball

Looking for a challenge! This class will motivate you to move up to the next level of fitness. Increase strength and cardiovascular endurance.

Strengthen core, improve stability and increase overall strength in this high energy workout.

Boot Camp Interval training incorporating calisthenic moves for a great cardio workout. The repetition will tone muscles and the fast pace will keep your heart pumping.

Cardio Sculpt Combo Elements included in this class are endurance, muscle conditioning and cardio to sculpt and energize for a fit n’firm physique.

Drop-in-Spin A cycling class that can work into your busy schedule, it will challenge and motivate you. Bikes are filled on a first come first serve basis.

Fit Mix Challenge yourself in a full body workout with a mix of strength, cardio and flexibility.

Get on the Ball Working on the stability ball using free weights, body bars, dynabands and tubing mixed with cardio to increase your strength and balance.

A 40 minute quick workout at noon - a great “fit” for your busy schedule. Cardio strength mix.

Muscle Up (noon) This quick workout offers cardio through resistance training of the major muscle groups using a variety of weight and resistance equipment followed by a cool down, a great way to build up those muscles.

This total body workout for the active aging focuses on improving strength, balance, stability and flexibility. Research has shown that exercise can slow the physiological aging clock and has many health benefits.

Total Body Fitness Total fitness for your total body, with cardio and resistance, no body parts will go unused in this class.

Power Hour

Yoga Strength

A workout that is great for guys and gals. Strength training with resistance equipment to boost your metabolism and tone your muscles. Compliment to any cardio routine.

Prenatal Strength & Stretch (18 yrs+) Keep fit throughout your pregnancy with strength conditioning and stretching. Build stamina which you will need during labour and delivery in a class specially designed to meet the needs of a soon-to-be mom. Fort Saskatchewan Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) endeavours to enhance the quality of life for children, youth, families, seniors, and others by providing programs and services that are empowering, build resiliency and strengthen our community.

Family & Community Support Services Home Support Services

Seniors Outreach

Home Support Services provides practical, in-home support services to individuals and families. HOUSEKEEPING ASSISTANCE is provided on an on-going basis to seniors requiring assistance for their housekeeping needs. The provision of Home Support Services enables individuals to retain and/or improve their quality of life by enhancing independent living, reducing isolation and promoting a safe, quality home life. Cost of service is determined on a sliding fee scale.

The Seniors Coordinator supports seniors and their families by helping them find solutions to their concerns. Help is provided by offering advocacy, supportive counseling and by providing information and referrals to community resources. All services are free of charge and visits can be in your home.

Special Transportation Services Society The Special Transportation Services Society oversees the operation of the subsidized Driving Miss Daisy service and the wheelchair accessible Handivan and Minivan. These services are available to Fort Saskatchewan residents who are 65 and over, those in wheelchairs and those with various chronic illnesses. The Capsule for Life Program It Could Save a Life The Capsule for Life Program helps emergency personnel quickly learn your important medical facts in times of crisis. Ambulance, Police and Fire Departments are trained to look for the “Capsule for Life� sticker in your house and on the refrigerator door. This symbol indicates that vital information is available to help assist them when giving treatment. Knowing what medications or chronic medical conditions may be present is extremely important to paramedics. Kits are available at participating pharmacies, Community Services and the Firehall, free of charge. For more information please contact Tammy at the Community Services office at 780.992.6623.

Meals on Wheels Nutritious, home cooked meals are delivered to homes in Fort Saskatchewan. Seniors and those who find meal preparation difficult can call 780.992.6267 to initiate service. Meals are delivered week days only at a cost of $6.00 per meal. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 27 provides the management and the cost of supplies. Volunteers active in the community ensure that this service is available.
