TIPS: • Reduce your waste production – buying smarter at the grocery story will save you from dealing with excessive packaging, plastics, and your overall waste consumption. • Donate gently used items and clothing to a local charity. • Layer dry materials, such as leaves, newspaper and cardboard, in your green organics cart to reduce the chance of materials becoming stuck. • Put your carts out on collection day even if they are not full. • You can purchase composable bags to place your organics in to reduce odours, or you can sprinkle a small amount of baking soda or bleach-free powdered laundry detergent at the bottom of the cart to help with odours. • Store your carts in shaded or covered areas.

FAQs: What provisions are made for residents with reduced mobility? We have ensured our carts are very easy to manoeuvre. However, if you are having difficulty moving the cart to your collection point, you may apply for City assistance. Get more info on this program by calling the Waste Hotline at 780.992.6218.
