As we transition from summer to fall, I wanted to take a moment to provide you with an update on the latest happenings at the American Canyon Fire Protection District.
First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support. Your trust in our team means the world to us, and we remain committed to serving our community with dedication and excellence.
I personally invite you to join us to remember those lost in the tragic events of 9/11. Monday, September 11th at 11 am the American Canyon Fire Protection District will be hosting a remembrance service at the Public Safety Building located at 911 Donaldson Way E. May we never forget all who were lost on the solemn day.
September is National CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) month. American Canyon CERT, also known as ACCERT, is a valuable asset to the Fire District and the community of American Canyon. To learn more about what they do, and how to join visit: americancanyoncert.org
We are committed to fostering a strong sense of community and preparedness. In the coming weeks, we will be posting several tips to provide you with valuable information on fire safety, emergency preparedness, and community resilience. Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates on these events.
Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Open House to highlight Fire Prevention Month. Saturday, October 7th from 10 am to 1 pm. The first hour will be a ‘quiet hour’ with minimal lights and sounds for those of our friends that may have sensitivity to loud noises or flashing lights.
In August, four of our probationary firefighters passed another milestone in their training. The 18-month probationary period is broken down into four ‘modules’. Each module consists of building block skills to deepen their knowledge of the complicated tasks that are required to perform as a firefighter. The next module will focus on skills needed to perform as a Driver/Operator. Congratulations to Probationary Firefighters Alexander, Hanson, Heim and Bayersdorfer! Keep up the good work.
We value your input and feedback. If you have any suggestions, concerns, or ideas on how we can better serve you, please don't hesitate to reach out. Your insights help us improve our services and strengthen our community. Feel free to email us at amcanfire@amcanfire.com or send us a message on Facebook or Instagram.
In closing, I want to reiterate our commitment to your safety and well-being. Together, we can face the challenges that lie ahead and emerge stronger as a community.
Thank you for your continued support, and please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need assistance. Remember, we ' re here for you 24/7, ready to respond to any emergency.
Stay safe and take care.

Kristen has been with ACCERT since June of 2022.
Profession: Civil Engineer Technician
What made you join ACCERT? When the 2014 Earthquake hit us in the Napa area, I felt helpless in to my community. When I heard about CERT in 2022, I signed right up! What I wasn’t expecting was all the beautiful friendships I would make.
I really like training with AmCanFire. I really enjoy learning about what they do and the steps they take to clean up their equipment. I like using fire hoses and extinguishers.
Favorite ACCERT memory? The Old Fire. Napa County Sheriff’s Office requested ACCERT & CART to be on standby to assist with rescuing animals and assisting with evacuations. Even though they didn’t end up needing us in our full capacity, we were ready to help.
I would encourage anyone to join CERT. Get comfortable with what to do in an emergency and get to know people in your community.

August welcomed one new explorer to AmCan Fire Explorer program: Please welcome Explorer Eiess.
On 08/13 the Explorers focused on: EMS/CPR. At this drill the advisors went over the basics of a medical patient assessment as well as a refresher on hands only CPR.
On 8/28 the Explorers were introduced to Auto Extrication. At this drill, Firefighter Cano started the drill with a PowerPoint presentation going over basic auto extrication principals, safety when cutting on cars, and hazards to be aware of. Then all the explorers got to practice the handson techniques on two actual vehicles.
As always, each drill starts with 1 hour of physical fitness training as well
Explorer Garcia is currently enrolled at Napa Valley College in the Emergency Medical Technician class with a goal to work as an EMT. His long term goal is to be a career firefighter.
Career Goals: To become a Firefighter/EMT.
Favorite Drill: Doning the SCBA’s. (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus). I find the equipment super fascinating and it looks really cool when you put it on.
Fire Explorer Garcia said 'I decided to join the AmCanFire Explorer program because I know I want to be a firefighter and this program is a window into what it is like to really be a firefighter.'
