HAPPY
NEW YEAR
A Message from the Chief Dear Residents and Community Members, As we welcome the promising dawn of a new year, I want to extend my heartfelt wishes for a prosperous and safe 2024. I hope you had a joyous holiday season surrounded by loved ones. As your Fire Chief, I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of safety, particularly as we navigate through inclement weather conditions. With winter upon us, it's crucial to exercise caution when driving in adverse weather. Please stay informed about road conditions, and ensure your vehicles are prepared for the challenges that the season may bring. Reflecting on the holiday season, I want to express my gratitude to our community for their incredible support during our successful toy drive. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide, in partnership, for numerous American Canyon families, spreading joy and warmth during this festive time. It's essential to remember that winter months often see an increase in home fires. I urge you to familiarize yourselves with your home's escape routes and review fire safety measures, such as checking your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Being proactive and prepared can make a significant difference in ensuring the safety of your loved ones and property. As we embark on this new chapter, let's continue to prioritize safety, resilience, and community spirit. Your dedication to the well-being of American Canyon is what makes our community strong. Thank you for your ongoing support, and here's to a year filled with safety, prosperity, and community unity. Warm regards,
Geoff Belyea Fire Chief American Canyon Fire District

EXPLORER CORNER
For our December training we did interview prep with all the explorers. Each explorer was asked to bring a resume to drill, and they all participated in fire service style interviews. The goal of this month's drill was to provide an opportunity to each explorer to enter an interview environment with the feedback from the advisors running the panel. Hopefully, this opportunity will better prepare them for entering the job market whether it be a fire service interview or just their first job.
