A message from Chief Belyea
From Monday, June 26th through Wednesday, June 28th dedicated members of the American Canyon CERT team attended the National CERT conference in the Bay Area This conference includes agencies such as FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), OES (Office of Emergency Services, and Local Agencies. Training is conducted at all levels, including competitions.
I am proud to announce that the American Canyon CERT team competed against teams from all across the country with a team limited to five members and took second place OVERALL. They also placed first place in '214's' (filling out a specific log in a very technical manner) and third place in medical triage
These are members of the American Canyon community, and they train continually to assist in the event that a disaster occurs in our community.
Congratulations ACCERT and thank you for your service!

June was a big month for the fire explorers as they were introduced to fire service ladders They started with an overview on the components of a ladder The following drill was comprised of ladder evolutions. They learned the proper ladder commends when deploying and throwing them They also learned how to climb, enter through a window, and even perform a ladder slide for a quick escape They continue to develop new skillsets towards their career in and out of the fire service
Explorer Abalos is currently enrolled at American Canyon High School, entering his Junior year He plays football and lacrosse
Career Goals: Currently, he wants to attend a good college and play collegiate lacrosse
Favorite Drill: Evolution 1
Explorer Abalos is surprised at the deep friendships he has been able to make in such a short time in being an explorer He wanted to join the AmCan Fire Explorer program to see what it meant to be a firefighter
Fire Explorer Abalos has a great mentor in his father, Captain EJ Abalos
