From the Mayor I hope you were able to join us during the three-day celebration of the Sundance Park Expansion Sept. 15 - 17. What a great time we had! Your Community Services Department did a fantastic job showcasing this wonderful new amenity for you to enjoy! After the official ribbon cutting, we opened the city’s first splash pad and hundreds of children of all ages played in the many water features. There was live music, fireworks, a fishing derby at the new lake, a kickball “battle of the badges” tournament between our Police and Fire departments, and so much more. Mayor Eric Orsborn

The success of this 38-acre park expansion is the result of some amazing teamwork from every single city department. The Community Services Department took your input and made it a reality, but it required coordinating

with Police, Fire, Public Works, Water Resources, Information Technology, Engineering, Contracting, Procurement, and the list goes on and on. A perfect example of the great teamwork is the 3.2-acre lake, a vital component of the expansion. The lake demonstrates the amount of teamwork involved to ensure we are being good stewards of water. The main source of water for the lake comes primarily from the Roosevelt Irrigation District Canal. Plus, the water from the splash pad filters into the lake, which is then used to irrigate the four new multi-purpose fields. While these details are important, ultimately, Sundance Park is your park. It is also a testament to Buckeye’s dedication of creating a vibrant, healthy community with incredible amenities where families, friends and neighbors can come together to enjoy nature, engage in sports and make lasting memories. The entire City Council thanks you, our residents and community members, for your unwavering support and patience, and especially for being the heart and soul of our city. We look forward to seeing you at all the great city events being scheduled at Sundance Park.
