Registration Info
In person at the Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center
Pre-registration is required for all recreation programs unless otherwise listed and all fees are due at the time of registration. Please note the deadline for all programs is 3 days prior to the start of the class. All programs require a minimum number of registrants in order to operate. Programs will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Each program fee is listed in the brochure, and additional supplies might be required if noted. Cash, check, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard and American Express) are accepted.

Visit cedarhilltx.com/pard and click on the Register Online Icon. Click on Create New Account or Log In (You will need your Log-In ID and Account PIN. If you need this information, email cedarhillpard@cedarhilltx.com). Click on the Programs tab and search for your program by code or search by browsing through the program categories. To view the Program times, dates, and classes, click on Show Courses. Click on Add to select the program and add it to your cart. Name the Registrant who will be taking the Program, then Go to Checkout or Continue Shopping. At Checkout, complete your payment information and print a receipt for registration confirmation.
Cancellation Policy •

The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel any program or special event, due to low program registrations or other unforeseen circumstances. In the event that a program is cancelled, registrants will be notified right away. Registrants will have the option of transferring to another program or receiving a full refund applied to their account (see refund policy).
Refund/Withdrawal Policy • • •
• •
Withdrawals from a program will be granted when requested more than 7 days prior to the start date of the program. There are no refunds for non-attendance, supply fees or online transaction fees. Written documentation from your doctor must accompany any medical withdrawals. A pro-rated refund will be granted for withdrawals filed during or after the course. Medical withdrawals must be requested, with proper documentation, within a month of the program’s ending date. To complete your withdrawal, a Refund Request Form must be completed in person at a Parks and Recreation facility. Fees approved through the request will be refunded to the original form of payment within 30 days of the request. Original credit card payments will be refunded to the credit card, and cash or check payments will be refunded in the form of a check.
Memberships & Rentals Memberships The Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center is the perfect place to maintain your healthy lifestyle in our fitness area, learn something new participating in one of our programs, host a special event in one of our multipurpose room rentals or play a game of basketball with your family and friends. Memberships are available to both Cedar Hill residents and non-residents at the same rate. Each membership includes: • • • • •
Access to state-of-the-art fitness equipment including three-lane walking/jogging track, a variety of cardio and strength machines, free weights and much more. (free fitness orientation available). Two full size gymnasiums. Game room including table tennis, foosball, air hockey, pool table and gaming systems. Onsite childcare 6 mo. to 6 yrs. in our barnyard room (Included in annual membership fee, or $20/10 visits, $4/per child, per visit). Complimentary wallet lockers located in the gymnasium & fitness area for personal items.

Multipurpose Room Rentals With over 5,400 square feet available for rent, the Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center is ideal for meetings, receptions, birthday parties and weddings. Guests have the option of using the entire space or splitting it up into 4 separate rooms. Each rental includes access to audio/video equipment and a commercial kitchen (for an additional fee). Special Interests Heartsaver AED/CPR Course
Age: 10 yrs+ Fee: $50/session Workbook Fee: $16 (cash only) This American Heart Association (AHA) course is designed to prepare a wide variety of people who, as first responders, may need to perform CPR, or use an automated external defibrillator (AED) to help someone who is choking. This is a healthcare provider CPR approved course; however, you do not have to be in the healthcare profession to take this course. A completion card is awarded to those who complete/demonstrate the skills and written tests. *Workbooks are required. Completion cards will not be issued if the student does not have a workbook. The Cedar Hill Senior Center services active seniors, age 50 and older, through planned programs, activities, and trips. Participants are offered enriching opportunities in a safe, fulfilling environment. Memberships to the center are FREE of charge and can be completed at the Senior Center. All programs are held weekly at the Senior Center, and registration is required for designated programs (up to 40 participants). Zula B. Wylie Public Library cards are FREE to residents of Texas. You can borrow books, videos, DVDs, ebooks, audio books and magazines. Virtual eletronic cards are also available to access online databases and resources. Cedar Hill and DeSoto residents can receive a partnership card FREE of charge.

Computers & Wi-fi
Computers and laptops with internet access and Microsoft Office products are provided for library users. FREE wireless internet access is also available 24/7 throughout the library building.
Copy, Print & Fax
A coin operated photocopy machine is provided for public use. From the computers, black and white as well as color printing is available for a small fee. The library provides fax service for a small fee. Faxing resumes and job applications is FREE.
Meeting Room
Our meeting room is available for use by non-profit organizations. To reserve the room, please call (972) 291-7323.
Community Garden
The community garden has been a Growing Green success and has developed into a community-wide project. Participation in this project is open to the public on a first come, first serve basis. You can register from our website.

Children Storytime Sessions for Children:
Discoverers - Mondays, 10:30 am. Ages 0-2. Designed with infants and early toddlers in mind, babies and caregivers experience sounds and structure of language through rhythm, rhyme and repetition forging the foundation of early literacy. Adventurers - Wednesdays, 10:30 am. Children ages 3-6 will develop and continue to foster a lifelong love of reading by engaging in a story time filled with fun literacy activities, engaging music and hands-on activities including art exploration, STEAM activities and our Children’s Discovery Garden!
Explorers - Fridays, 10:30 am (Excluding Nov. 25). Ages 2-3. In this class we will begin to explore the six early literacy concepts which help children develop the all-important social, emotional and language skills through fun stories, interactive songs and weekly crafts. Special Bilingual Storytime - October 15,10:30 am. Hear stories in both Spanish and English. For children of all ages. Homework Help - Children in grades 3-6 can receive guided assistance with homework every Wednesday beginning October 5 from 4:30-5:30 pm (excludes school holidays). Sessions are facilitated by a certified teacher. Space is limited. Please register each week by calling (972) 291-7323. Youth Tellers - Children in grades 3-6 are invited to learn the art of storytelling every Thursday beginning September 1 at 5 pm (excludes school holidays). Tail Wagging Tutors - Children of all ages are invited to read aloud to friendly, trained dogs from the Dog Training Club of Dallas County. Held on the 2nd Saturday of every month at 1:30 pm. Family Place Parent/Child Workshops - Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm, September 27, October 4, 18, 25, November 1. A 5-week program that involves toddlers and their parents and caregivers; features local professionals who serve as resources for parents; emphasizes the role of parents as the first teachers of their children; facilitates early intervention; and teaches strategies for healthy child development and early literacy. Perot Museum of Nature & Sciences TECH Truck The goal of the TECH Truck is to engage youth in hands-on, maker-based science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) experiences that foster creativity and confidence. The TECH Truck will bring hands-on discovery directly to the Zula B. Wylie Public Library. This colorful vehicle will inspire youth to Tinker, Engineer, Create, and Hack by exploring both low and high-tech, hands-on projects. ​Date TBD.

Lester Lorch Nature Preserve, located at 1823 Texas Plume Rd., offers 2 challenging 18-hole disc golf courses, Beaver and Coyote, and covers elevation changes, wooded areas and a pond. It is open to the public for casual play. South Hills course located on S. Clark Rd. offers a casual 9-hole course open for casual play.

City parks are a great place to celebrate, whether it be a birthday party, family reunion or just a picnic in the park. There are 15 covered pavilions that can be rented at various parks throughout the city along with the Amphitheater at Valley Ridge Park. Pavilions are available for $25 per hour, per pavilion. All fees are due at the time of the reservation and you are required to reserve the pavilion for the entire time you occupy it. Pavilions are available on a first come, first serve basis. Contact the Parks and Recreation Administrative Offices at (972) 291-5130 to check availability and all reservations must be completed in person.
