Now it’s Easy to Register Online with Any Device!
Pre-registration is required for all recreation programs unless otherwise listed and all fees are due at the time of registration. Please note the deadline for all programs is 3 days prior to the start of the class. All programs require a minimum number of registrants in order to operate. Programs will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Each program fee is listed in the brochure, and additional supplies might be required if noted. Cash, check, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard and American Express) are accepted.

The Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center is the perfect place to maintain your healthy lifestyle in our fitness area, learn something new participating in one of our programs, host a special event in one of our multipurpose rooms or play a game of basketball with your friends. Memberships are available to Cedar Hill residents and non-residents at the same rate. Membership includes:
With over 5,400 square feet available for rent, the Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center is ideal for meetings, receptions, birthday parties and weddings. Guests have the option of using the entire space or splitting it up into 4 separate rooms.

Access to state-of-the-art fitness equipment including three-lane walking/jogging track, a variety of cardio and strength machines, free weights and much more. (free fitness orientation available). Two full size gymnasiums. Game room including table tennis, foosball, air hockey, pool table and gaming systems. Private & Semi-Private Lessons Book your private or semi-private swim lesson today to reserve personalized one on one instruction or in groups of 3 or less participants. Each scheduled lesson is 30 minutes long. Registration must be completed in person at Crawford Park Pool, the Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center or the Administrative Offices (Cedar Hill Government Center). Private lessons (1 student/1 instructor) and semi-private lessons (2-3 students/1 instructor) are available in packages of 4, 8, or 12 lessons. Fees vary. Featured At The Library We are becoming a Family Place Library! Expanding the traditional role of children’s services, Family Place builds on the knowledge that good health, early learning, parental involvement and supportive communities play a critical role in young children’s growth and development. These exhibits rotate every 3 months. This partnership offers STEM subject self-directed exhibits for children of all ages to explore. Through May the exhibit will be “Contraptions,” and beginning in June young patrons will be able to experience “Creepie Crawlies.” Available during library hours.
Youth Library Programs Children “Build a Better World” this summer! Check out the featured summer events on page 12! Storytime Sessions for Children: Explorers - Mondays at 10:30 am. Ages 0-2. Designed with infants and early toddlers in mind, babies and caregivers experience sounds and structure of language through rhythm, rhyme and repetition forging the foundation of early literacy.
Adventurers - Wednesdays at 10:30 am. Children ages 3-6 will develop and continue to foster a lifelong love of reading by engaging in a story time filled with fun literacy activities, engaging music and hands-on activities including art exploration, STEAM activities and our Children’s Discovery Garden! Discoverers - Fridays at 10:30 am. Ages 2-3. In this class we will begin to explore the six early literacy concepts which help children develop the all-important social, emotional and language skills through fun stories, interactive songs and weekly crafts. Community Heroes & Helpers Storytime - Wednesdays at 10:30 am during the summer. Each week a different Community Hero or Helper will join us to share stories and activities about their role in the community. Park Pavilion Rentals City parks are a great place to celebrate, whether it be a birthday party, family reunion or just a picnic in the park. There are 15 covered pavilions that can be rented at various parks throughout the city along with the Amphitheater at Valley Ridge Park. Pavilions are available for $25 per hour, per pavilion. All fees are due at the time of the reservation and you are required to reserve the pavilion for the entire time you occupy it. Pavilions are available on a first come, first serve basis. Contact the Parks and Recreation Administrative Offices at (972) 291-5130 to check availability and all reservations must be completed in person.
Disc Golf Parks Lester Lorch Nature Preserve, located at 1823 Texas Plume Rd., offers 2 challenging 18-hole disc golf courses, Beaver and Coyote, and covers elevation changes, wooded areas and a pond. It is open to the public for casual play. South Hills course located on S. Clark Rd. offers a casual 9-hole course open for casual play.
