Come play with us! The Cedar Hill Parks and Recreation Department consists of a variety of employees who specialize in offering people of all ages and places to have fun. Our parks and trails system is designed to provide residents a place to play within walking distance of their homes. We currently provide hike and bike trails and 32 parks throughout the city. Recreation programs are customized to fit the changing needs of our community. We offer a full service aquatics program at Crawford Park Pool, Senior Citizen’s programs at our Senior Center, adult and youth athletics programs at various athletic facilities, community programs at the Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center and quality special events.

Ages: 4-16 yrs Bring your fishing poles, rods and reels, and come experience the joy of fishing. Bait and tackle will be provided, along with a limited number of rods and reels, on a first come first serve basis. Plan to arrive early to register onsite.

Juneteenth Arts & Music Festival: Celebrating Freedom through Diversity

June 20, 5:00-10:00 pm (FREE) Valley Ridge Park The Best Southwest cities of Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville and Lancaster joined together to honor the oldest known celebration of the ending of slavery. Activities include local food, Kids on the Hill Creative Arts Zone, performances by Rattletree Mambia, Memphis Soul, Dazz Band, and much more.

Red, White & Pool

Dash with your dog and run/walk with your pack of four-legged friends at our 1st Annual Dog Jog 3K. Afterwards give your faithful companion a chance to strut their stuff at the 2nd Annual Paws in the Pool, held at Crawford Park Pool. Registration available online.

Crawford Park Pool offers a variety of programs for citizens of all ages including swim lessons, aqua fitness, specialized aquatics, and daily passes to get active and escape from the summer heat. The pool is also available to rent during specific times. Registration for lessons and programs can be completed online at www.cedarhilltx.com/pard, in person at Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center or at the Parks and Recreation Department administration offices. .

AQUA FITNESS Aqua Zumba®

Age: 13 yrs+ Dive into the fun with Aqua Zumba® and enjoy a ‘pool party’ workout. It’s an effective, challenging, and fun water-based workout that integrates the Zumba formula and philosophy into traditional aqua fitness disciplines. SPECIALIZED AQUATICS Water Safety Instructor Course

Age: 16 yrs+ Course will train Water Safety candidates how to teach classes in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use course materials, conduct training sessions and evaluate participants’ progress. Attendance at all class sessions is required to receive certification. A $35 non-refundable fee is due for online pre-course. Individual Fee: $190 Code

Swim Team

Age: 6-18 yrs The Mini Longhorn’s recreational swim team is a great way to introduce youth with limited swimming experience to competition and good sportsmanship. A coach will teach stroke technique and the fundamentals of racing. All participants must be able to swim one length of the pool without stopping on their front and back. Individual Fee: $75 * This team will compete in local DFW meets. Participation in meets is encouraged.

Lifeguard Training Course

Age: 15 yrs+ This is an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification class that will certify the participant in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen Training. Participant is required to attend all class sessions to receive certification. *Course is held at Duncanville Natatorium Individual Fee: $159 Code Session Days

Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center is the perfect place to maintain your healthy lifestyle in our fitness area, learn something new participating in one of our programs, host a special event in one of our mulitpurpose room rentals or play a game of basketball with your family and friends. Memberships are available to both Cedar Hill residents and non-residents at the same rate. MEMBERSHIPS We offer a variety of memberships for all ages; annual, three month, one month or a day pass valid for one day access. Each membership includes: • • • • •

Access to state of the art fitness equipment including three lane walking/jogging track, a variety of cardio and strength machines, free weights and much more. (free fitness orientation available). Two full size gymnasiums. Game room including table tennis, foosball, air hockey, pool table and gaming systems. Onsite child care in our barnyard (included in the annual membership). BARNYARD/ CHILDCARE Monday-Friday 8:00 am-12:00 pm 5:00-9:00 pm Saturday 9:00 am-12:00 pm Childcare for children 6 months-6 years is provided in our kid friendly Barnyard & included with the purchase of an annual membership, or for the fee of $20 for 10 visits or $4 per child, per day. Two hour maximum time limit per child and parent must remain on site during barnyard use. Services only available for members and guests.

New members are required to complete a liability waiver upon purchase and youth members under age 18 must have a liability waiver completed by a parent/guardian. Memberships are valid from the date of purchase to end of the purchase period (one month, three months or annual). Membership cards are non-transferable. Only the person whose photo appears on the membership card will be allowed to use it. Violation of this policy will result in suspension and/or forfeiture of membership without a refund. Members are responsible for notifying Recreation Center staff of lost or stolen membership cards as soon as possible. Members will not be held responsible for unauthorized use after notification. Membership cards must be presented at the front desk before participating in any activity, and must be available when ever asked by a staff member to present. Membership cards reported lost will be cancelled and will no longer be eligible for use. A replacement card will be issued after a $5 replacement fee is paid.

If you have already registered for a course/special event, or visited the Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center and set up your account, click on “Log In” button, select “Forget Password” and enter in the email you used to set up your account. This will send you a link where you can set up the password you want to use. If you do not have an account, click “Create New Account” and complete process. Make sure to add all family members in your household who plan to register for a program or special event. Once you have your log in information, you can proceed to find your course/special event by “Browsing for Courses” or typing in the code listed in the brochure into the “Barcode Search.” Under your selected code, select “Show Courses” to view the program schedule and availability. Select “Add to Cart” on the right hand side if your course is available. Continue shopping and add additional courses, then select “Proceed to Checkout.” You can then have receipt emailed to you, or print it out.

Age: 10+ The American Heart Association (AHA) course is designed to prepare people who, as first responders, may need to perform CPR, use an automated external defibrillator (AED) or help someone who is choking. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center features 5,400 square feet of versatile meeting space and is ideal for meetings, receptions, birthday parties, weddings and other events. Guests have the option of using the entire meeting space as one room or splitting the area into separate rooms (up to four individual rooms). Access to a commercial kitchen and a variety of audio/visual equipment is also available. Each room is adjacent to an outdoor patio and small pond with a beautiful fountain, creating an inviting and tranquil setting. The Cedar Hill Senior Center services active senior adults age 50 and older and promotes the health, emotional, social and intellectual well-being of senior adults living in the community and surrounding areas.

SENIOR CENTER Memberships are offered free of charge and can be completed at the Senior Center. Through planned programs, activities and trips, participants are offered enriching opportunities in a safe, fulfilling environment. There are 15 covered pavilions that can be rented at various parks throughout the city. Rental fees are due at the time of reservation. Lester Lorch Nature Preserve, located at 1823 Texas Plume Rd., offers 2 challenging 18-hole disc golf courses, Beaver and Coyote, and covers elevation changes, wooded areas and a pond.
