This is a special time of year when nature awakens to beckon us back into its colorful fold and the warm air rejuvenates our mind, body, and spirit. Our dedicated staff has been working hard to curate an exciting selection of new recreation and educational opportunities for you, while ensuring our tried-and-true customer favorites are ready and waiting for you, too.
We are proud to offer programs for participants of all ages and abilities, including Kayaking Camp, Trivia Night, day camps, and a summer pool party. If you have differing abilities that may require accommodations to allow you to take advantage of our fantastic programs, please contact Special Programs Supervisor, Barbara Penning to discuss your inclusion needs. With summer nearly upon us, we are seeking lifeguards, seasonal park laborers, and many more roles to support our four community pools and two aquatic centers. In addition to playing an integral role in maintaining 100+ parks and 4,000+ acres of green space, seasonal employees can gain valuable work skills and an area-leading wage! Learn about pollination by acting out the work of the honeybee. In this game, you will create a bee costume to wear as you fly out to find pollen and nectar. Communicate with your fellow bees through waggle dances and bring everything back to the hive. #113109-01

Rollin ’ into your neighborhood this summer!
The Rollin’ Recmobiles will take to the streets again this summer, bringing recreational activities to your neighborhood park. The first hour of your party will be a guided farm tour with a party host. In this hour, you will have hands-on contact with the animals and will be able to feed them as well. The second hour will be free time at the pavilion near the duck exhibit. The birthday child will receive a gift. Bring your own cake, snacks, and beverages. Two-hour party reservations are available May 8 - October 1 and can be scheduled between 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Call 319-286-5763 to set up your party.

GROUP TOURS
One-hour guided and unguided group tours of the farm are available by appointment only for all groups, including school groups and day cares. Guided tours are $3 per person and available weekdays between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Each participant receives some food to feed to the animals and in-depth, hands-on experience with the animals. SEASON PASS RULES
• You must present your pass to enter the pool.
• Passes are non-transferable and nonrefundable.
• Replacement cards may be purchased for $5 if cards are lost or stolen.
• Passes may be revoked for pool infractions and misuse with no refunds.
• Individuals who are immediate family members and who live at the same residence (maximum of two adults) are eligible for a family pass. Children must be under the age of 21 (maximum of four) and related to one or both the household adults as offspring or by marriage, adoption, foster care placement or legal guardianship. (*Additional family passes for more than four children cost $10 for each child.)
• Nanny Pass must be purchased as part of a family pass. Nanny must be at least 16 years old. A special pass card will be issued. The pass can only be used when the nanny attends pool with the children. Designate “Nanny” on the Season Pass Form.
You may be asked at any time for verification that your family meets eligibility requirements. Misrepresentation could result in loss of passes.

• Mechanical problems
• Poor water quality
• Special events/situations
• Darkness
• Maximum bather limit reached (When pool reaches capacity, patrons may be turned away and referred to another facility)

In this one-day class led by American Canoe Association (ACA) certified instructors, Chuck Ungs and Lynne Majetic, participants will get exactly what they need to start their kayaking adventures. WHEN TO REGISTER
Advanced registration is required. No registrations are accepted on the first day of a session. Limited registration may be available as the session start date approaches. Registration cut-off at 11:59 p.m. the Saturday before the session begins.
HOW TO REGISTER
Choose the session, then pick the level and time of the desired class from the charts on pages 56-60. Register using the corresponding number. Before the Pools Open:

WITHDRAWALS, REFUNDS, TRANSFERS
Withdrawals and transfers will be honored if they are made by 5 p.m. the Wednesday before the first day of class. In all cases a $4 nonrefundable handling fee will be deducted from the refund. Once the Thursday before the first day of class arrives, refunds are not issued unless the program is cancelled by Parks & Recreation.
IMPORTANT: If your child does not meet the age requirement, the computer will reject your registration and your child will not be enrolled. In this instance, you cannot register online. Call Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation, 319-286-5566.
WEATHER CANCELLATIONS
Classes are cancelled if dangerous weather conditions exist at the time of the lesson. Dangerous weather conditions are lightning and/or a severe storm. Call the appropriate pool for cancellations. Cancelled classes may be made up on available Fridays during the session. There is no guarantee that all classes will be made up.
COOL WEATHER
Lessons are held even on cool days. Swimmers might only be in the water for a limited amount of time or not at all if the weather is cold.
POOL CLOSINGS
If a pool is unexpectedly closed, lessons may be made up on Fridays during the session. There is no guarantee that all classes will be made up.
HEALTH REQUIREMENT
If your child is sick, he/she may not enter the water for two weeks after the last episode of diarrhea. Call 319-286-5741 with questions about transfers and refunds.

The purpose of this class is to expose the child to water adjustment skills. Front kicking, underwater exploration, and entering and exiting the water will be covered. One parent per child.

Read each level carefully and compare the skills listed to those your child is currently able to perform. If you are certain that your child can complete the “TO PASS” skills, then register them for the next higher level if he/ she is the appropriate age.

Noelridge Greenhouse
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
A permanent display of large tropical plants is housed at Noelridge Greenhouse, 4900 Council Street NE. The greenhouse is open to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Thursday from 7 a.m. to Noon; and for scheduled special events.
TOURS
The Friends of Noelridge offer regular FREE guided tours of the greenhouse, landscaped beds, and butterfly tent for groups of five or more. Tours for specific age groups, adults or children, will generally last one hour. To register for a tour, email l.farmer@cedar-rapids.org. The City of Cedar Rapids has two off-leash parks. Cheyenne Off-Leash Dog Park is located on Cedar Bend Lane SW, off Old River Road and K9 Acres is located north of Gardner Golf Course at 5200 Golf Course Road, Marion.

Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation maintains a variety of hard surface and crushed limestone recreational trails. If you make a complete tour of all the park trails, you will travel over 24 miles.

BALL DIAMOND RENTALS
Call 319-286-5799 to reserve diamonds for practice or reserve them in person at Northwest Recreation Center (MondayFriday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) or City Services Center (Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) Diamonds may be reserved for two-hour time segments at $25 per time segment for unlined fields and $35 per time segment for lined fields. Exclusive use of the reserved area is insured with the fee.

Park Pavilion Rental
Rent one of 25 pavilions in the City parks up to one year in advance of the intended use date (between May 6 and October 1, 2023). Sizes range from 7 to 40 tables. Rates vary based on size and location. Pavilions are rented for a single time period of 10 a.m. through 8 p.m.

• The Department reserves the right to cancel or consolidate classes based on registration. A full refund is issued for all cancelled classes. Minimum and maximum class sizes are utilized.
