This is where it all begins! The Cupertino Preschool Tiny Tots program encourages social development through group activities and play. Class activities include a mix of music and singing, learning the alphabet, finger plays, stories, and circle time. We encourage exploration and learn about our emotions and our world around us. Using imaginary play, we teach about our neighbors, holiday traditions, and much more.

Holiday schedule: The preschool program follows the Cupertino Union School District holiday schedule. We do not observe staff learning days.

Preschool Super Tots
The Cupertino Preschool Super Tots program will expand on the child’s development and provide enriching activities that will prepare the student for kindergarten. Activities include handwriting, sequence of the days, counting, music, art, science, games, creative play, and more. We encourage independence through various activities and learn about our physical world. Every day we use various art components to teach fine motor skills and creative thinking.

• Children must be toilet trained by the first class

• Tiny Tots must turn three (3) years old by Sept. 1, 2023

NOTE: The September 1 cut-off date is consistent with the school district’s deadline and will allow your child to be with the same children at the start of kindergarten.
McClellan Ranch Preserve is an 18-acre natural preserve, originally a horse ranch in the 1930s and 40s before being converted to a nature preserve in the 50s. The site includes:
• Walking Trail
• The Original Ranch House
• Milk Barn
• Livestock Barn
• A Replica of Baer's Blacksmith Shop (originally located at De Anza and Stevens Creek Boulevards)
• The Old Water Tower from Parish Ranch (now Memorial Park)
• Environmental Education Center (EEC)
Birding Basics 1

From enormous Eagles and Vultures to tiny Warblers and Goldfinches, this two-part class will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills you need to recognize our local birds. If you are already a birder, this refresher will improve your current skills. You will learn how to find and identify the common birds of Cupertino as well as other nearby birding locations. In the first session, students will learn essential binocular and field guide use, and the fundamentals of bird identification. In session two, students will enjoy a guided trip through McClellan Ranch where they will practice finding and identifying local birds with our instructors.

Blacksmithing Workshop

Curious about blacksmithing? Learn the basics of shaping hot metal in this 3-hour workshop. Class size is limited to two students so that each can have plenty of hands-on experience at the forge and anvil with individualized instruction. You leave class with a hook or other small item you make yourself. Information on appropriate clothing for working at the forge, as well as details about recommended eye protection and hearing protection will be sent to students prior to the first class meeting. If this workshop fills, other sessions may be scheduled.

Join-A-Ranger: Wild Plant Uses 5Y+
Join the Park Rangers in the exploration of many native and non-native wild plants found within the Riparian zones and Oak Savana grasslands of McClellan Ranch Preserve and Blackberry Farm. We will dive into the identification properties, edible uses, medicinal uses, and survival uses of these amazing plant species. All attendees must register and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Join-A-Ranger: Riparian Habitat 5Y+ and Native Plant Tour
Join a Park Ranger for a tour of the native trees and plants in our local riparian habitat. We’ll explore the relationships ancient peoples had with these plants and how they used them for food, medicine, and survival. All attendees must register and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Baer Blacksmith Shop
Come to the restored Baer Blacksmith Shop and learn about early Cupertino history and the craft of blacksmithing. The forge will be fired up for blacksmithing demonstrations.

Join-A-Ranger: Raptors of the Corridor 5Y+
The Park Rangers invite you to learn about the raptors living in our riparian habitat! Walk the trails to see the habitat these birds of prey live in and maybe catch a glimpse of a Red-Shoulder Hawk, Screech Owl, or more! All attendees must register and children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear sturdy walking shoes.

Learn to act, direct, cooperate, and lead through drama. In this fun and engaging class, your child will learn how to present plays, skits, advertisements, and more for the stage or screen by practicing as both actors and directors. Students learn to cooperate, express themselves, and master speaking skills as actors, and then how to lead, create insights, and help others as directors of their own drama team. Materials fee $20. Perfect your writing skills and become a published author. Students create a full writing project, revise and polish it to perfection, and learn how to publish their work.
