READY! Our entry level is focused on developing the skills necessary to play the sport of tennis. Your child will have fun while developing their technique through ball striking, tracking, racket control, and footwork. RALLY! This level continues the tennis journey by focusing on rallying and ball control. Players will continue to develop technique using the ball and court size appropriate for their age and level. Players should be able to hold a simple rally and get their serve in consistently before moving on to PLAY. The PLAY level places an emphasis on the skills necessary to play a real match. Your child will continue to develop modern swing techniques as they focus on movement and ball control. Players graduating from the PLAY level will be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to play a match and are ready to move into our Junior Development classes or try out for the Competition Training program. No class 8/21, 8/23, 8/25.

Bronze, Silver, Gold Junior 10-16Y Development Team

Bronze is for students who have graduated from the Ready! Rally! Play! program. Students must be able to demonstrate a rally and consistent serve in the correct service box. This program is designed to prepare students to play matches. Silver and Gold level players are capable of consistent rallying from the baseline, as well as demonstrating a proper serve. More advanced footwork techniques will be introduced to improve court coverage. Players at this level often compete for their school teams or play USTA Tournaments. No class 8/25.

Learn to act, direct, cooperate, and lead through drama. In this fun and engaging class, your child will learn how to present plays, skits, advertisements, and more for the stage or screen by practicing as both actors and directors. Students learn to cooperate, express themselves, and master speaking skills as actors, and then how to lead, create insights, and help others as directors of their own drama team. Material fee $20. In this course you will learn how to be safe when home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Hands-on instruction includes infant care, planning age-appropriate activities, and how to manage discipline issues. Participants are taught how to prevent and respond to emergencies, with an emphasis on first aid skills, as well as how to recognize child abuse and handle inappropriate adult behavior. This program is designed for mature-minded individuals who are serious about developing their childcare skills and abilities.

Ikebana Flower Arrangement

18Y+ Come learn Ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arrangement, by using seasonal materials to create your ikebana expressions. All levels are welcome. For beginners, please bring ikebana scissors or pruners, a pin frog or flower holder, and a shallow vase to the first class. Material fee of $120 for eight lessons is payable to the instructor at the first meeting. Class on 7/11 and 7/18 will be in Room 4 of the Monta Vista Recreation Center No class 7/4.

Potter’s Wheel Beginner

18Y+ Come in and learn the fundamentals of throwing pottery on the wheel. The basics are taught and reinforced to demystify the challenges of the wheel. Skills will be introduced with plenty of individual attention in this small class setting. All materials and firings are included. Students are given complimentary access to Open Studio hours throughout the duration of the session for which they are registered. No class 6/19.
