Let us begin by wishing you a happy new year! We wish you and your family good health and prosperity in 2022. Your City and Chamber of Commerce employees remain committed to ensuring that your community is a place you feel proud to call home and that future generations will be proud to do the same. On the City front, our nearly 600 full- and part-time public servants continue to provide top-quality services such as keeping the public safe, providing emergency medical services, making sure your favorite book is available at the library, keeping our many parks beautiful and so much more. The small, but mighty Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce staff continues to build upon Germantown’s vibrant business environment and foster strong relationships within the business community. Many retail shops, restaurants and corporate offices continue to choose to call Germantown home. New businesses often have their eyes set on Germantown as their regional destination, which further adds to our unique and one-of-a-kind shopping and dining experiences. While the global pandemic has proven to be a challenge for the restaurant industry and small businesses alike, in 2021 we welcomed over 30 new businesses to our community. These new additions include a variety of retailers, restaurants, medical providers, personal care services and more. We are glad to welcome these new businesses to our community and are looking forward to what’s to come in 2022.

Shifting gears for just a moment, we’d be remiss if we didn’t take a solemn moment to recognize the nearly two years of sacrifice that the pandemic has demanded from our community. While these times have been challenging, they have taught us that there are so many important and cherished things in our daily lives that we often take for granted. In addition, we are grateful to the first responders in Germantown and Collierville and especially the congregation of Germantown Baptist Church for providing a location or our vaccination clinic. Looking ahead to the future with the following signature services, programs and quality of life amenities planned or on the horizon, one can see “Excellence. Every day.” remains a priority in city governing: 1. Maintenance and improvements to the Miller Farms and Duntreath ditches 2. New police cruiser equipment and camera systems 3. The purchase of close to 50 acres for a new premium performance park 4. Improvements to the ballfields at Cameron Brown and Bob Hailey Parks 5. Improvements to Fire Station No. 4 We hope you take some time to read through the stories featured in this edition. Without giving too much away, in these pages you will find stories of our community’s history and how residents are shaping the future.
