Each a separate road to his dream mansion takes with hopes aloft, With childhood thoughts behind Reality our lives unwind. And then-for oft
As mem'ries take us back, our souls are filled with music soft. Through these portals where once we passed, we pass again, and thoughts of her-and him Return in dreams that are so dim. We stop-and then Recall no more until our fancy returns again And wanders-Through These Portals.

STUDENT COUNCIL
So that Golden High School students might be selfgovern1ng, the Student Council was organized The Councrl's chief function is to formulate the laws governing the student body: this group also acts as a link between the students and their f acuity.
The student officers are: Tom Gray, President, and Dorothy Prouse, Secretary-Treasurer The class representatives are: Seniors--Janet Morrison, Rose Marie Rowe, George Ellis, and Harry Artemis; Juniors-Myrna Middlemiss, Jean Van Winkle, Eugene Bachman, and Dave Johnston; Sophomores-Faye Sivers, Joyce Hall. and Orwin Nelson ; Fre shmen-Ann Van Winkle, Ken H erron , and Don Wheeler
The Student Council plans all assemblies, plans and decorates for All-School parties, keeps records for "G-P1n" points, and sponsors noon-dancing. The tasks given this group are varied. A membership in CQuncil is not a ticket for fun; time and attention are demanded. The council members have been aware of their position and should be commended for their fine work. Through the tireless efforts of their sponsor, Miss Bolitho, the Student Council has become an organization of which we should all be proud: the Student Council owes ,ts success to her.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
tf you receive the honor of being initiated into this society, you can justly be proud. Since Golden received its Society Charter in 1927, this organization has promoted scholarship, service, and class participation. There are many goals to reach during the period of schooling, but one of the highest 1s a membership 1n this Society After your name is proposed for membership, the members of the faculty grade each candidate for outstanding achievements 1n scholarship, leadership, character, and service The candidates with the highest rat ings are selec ted for membership.
From this year's graduating class, George Ellis, Tom Gray, Dorothy Prou se, and Lillian Viles were elected in their Junior year
The Juni ors elected this year were: Eugene Bachman, Read Beers, Stanley Claar, and Myrna Midd lemiss.
The Seniors elected this year were: Pat Fertig, Marian Marica, Gordon Patty, Mary Jean Reimer, Rose Marie Rowe, Eunice Smith, Mary Webster and Ted Wi chmann.
To you who receive this honor, wear your pin proudly as it is the highe st award presented in high school.

G-PIN
One of the highest distinctions a student of Golden High School may receive is the G-Pin When a Freshman enters the school, he may, if he wishes, begin to keep a record of all his activities. He deposits this record in the ballot box and certain poi nts are evaluated by the G - Pin Committee of the Student Council. The members of this committee this year are Myrna Middlemiss and Jean Van Winkle. When 150 points have been recorded for a student he is entitled to receive a miniature maroon and gold G-Pin. To be eligible he must first be a member of the student association every year Points are given for : Officers of the Student Body, Student Council, Grades, National Honor Society, Athletics, " G " Club, Cheerleaders, Majorettes, Melodears, Goldenairs, Glee Club, Senior Play, Assembly appearances, Annual Staff, F. H. A , G. A. A., Ma roon and White, Band, Pep Club, C a nteen Board, and Librarians. Points may be ded u cted for conduct unbecoming to a student of G. H S. or any action that might bring dishonor to himself or his community.
Only a few very outstanding st udents earn their G- Pins before they are Seniors. Dorothy Prouse, Lillian Viles, and Rose Marie Rowe of this year's Senior class received their pins last year. Myrna Middlemiss and Read Beers of this year's Junior class received their pins this year . Students receiving their pins during their Senior year are: Janet Morrison, Mary Jean Reimer, and Eunice Smi t h.
Only the ,active, well-rounded student is able to earn this award ; when he receives his G-Pin, he may wear it with pride and satisfaction for it carries with ii one of the highest honors of Golden High School.

The Golden Girls' Athletic Association, with an enrollment of 54, started their year's activities with its traditonal hike up Lookout Mountain to enable the new enrollees to earn their necessary 15 points for membership. The enthusiastic group of some 60 girls attempted resisting a rain storm but had to turn back and postponed the trip until a week later. It was, however, successful the second time and all had a wonderful but tiring time The 27 new members were 1n1tiated at a lovely candlelight service on Nov 19. Wilma Jones, Martha Brown, Lois Jean Fertig, Rose Marie Rowe, and Mrs. Bishop attended the G A A. State Conference at Colorado Springs on Oct I I. Rose Marie Rowe who has served as a student representative on the State Executive Board for three years remained there for two days for a State Executive Board Meeting The girls have participated in archery, track, and have had intermurals 1n volleyball, softbc;,11, darts, badminton, and basketball They work diligently to pass their skill tests in these sports
