WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MEMORY? “When I was in the fourth grade, I decided that I did not believe in Santa Claus. On Christmas morning, I got a three-foot tall walking doll. I kept saying, ‘There really is a Santa Claus! There is a Santa Claus!’ I still have that doll today.” Joyce Norrington “When I was 10 years old, my Dad got me a 1960 English bicycle with speeds...quite a fancy bike for the times. We walked down to Tri-City Western Auto; Dad paid $5 down and $5 a month until it was paid for. I rode the bike home.” Wayne Day
“Jodhpurs (riding pants) were very popular when I was 12 or 13. I wanted a pair for Christmas. Money was tight and I didn’t think I would get them, but I did! They were navy blue. My Dad always went to the market for bags of fruit: oranges, apples, etc. He would hide them in the attic. I kept smelling apples that year, but I could not find them. He had hidden them well.” Louise Bunn “At the age of 6 or 7, I received the GI Joe with Kung-Fu grips! I was thrilled; when you pulled a string, he would talk. I remember my family was living in Germany; there was lots of pretty snow.” Jeff Turner
“As a child, I was one of five children. We drove to Ellisville, Mississippi to visit the Rasnake family, our relatives. It was a long trip in those days; we spent two days, then came home and went to visit with my Mother’s family. We received Buffalo nickels for Christmas, not toys! I am thankful for family and all the love I felt at the holidays; that is what is important about Christmas, and we need to remember that.” Annette Harris
“One Christmas my brother, James and I, received bicycles from Santa. For a child of the 1950s that was a big deal...I went to the tree first and ran back to tell James, who was six years older than me. He did not believe me until he saw them... Joy Day
