STRONG by ZUMBA®

This program is designed to help participants improve in each of the five biomotor abilities with each workout: strength, speed, endurance, agility and coordination and flexibility. The training can also help develop proper habits that may reduce the risk of injuries. Strength training will focus on progressively developing upper and lower body strength, core strength and stability through various periodization models. Speed training will focus on mastering efficient movement mechanics to optimize acceleration and maximum speed movement pertaining specifically to a given sport. Endurance training will progress from general to specific intervals, shuttle and sprint training. Participants will become proficient at proper running and acceleration techniques. Flexibility is emphasized with each session and each athlete will be stretched at the conclusion.

This fun class combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometeric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move. Every squat, every lunge, every burpee is driven by the music, helping you make it to that last rep and maybe even five more. Intensity Level: Moderate

Civic Dance Studio Through May 2019

This great nine-month dance program encourages students to practice and improve throughout the school year and culminates with the year-end dance recital. Class participation is crucial in preparing for the recital, so we ask that children commit to attending ALL scheduled classes through May 2019. New students will be accepted into the program at any time; however, students who joined after January 2019 will not be eligible to participate in the recital held June 2019. Classes will be held at our new Krekel Civic Center, 305 Civic Park Drive, O’Fallon 63366. Regular participation in Civic Dance Studio is the best way to help students build a progressive foundation for dance as they learn and practice dance steps and master the skills they need.

Payment Options School Year • September – May For the school year, choose one of the options listed below. All options are signed up as memberships and we will automatically draft the amount on the fifteenth of each month. This requires you to fill out a tuition form, which can be found on our website.

Class Schedule Civic Dance Studio classes emphasize correct technique, placement, elegance and discipline. Class typically includes a warm-up, progressive steps across the floor and dance combos. Ballet classes include ballet and pointe at the barre. Students progress at different rates. To assign the class most helpful to them, dancers will be assessed for ability as well as age, with age considered secondary. Students also will be monitored to be sure that placement is correct. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to speak to your child’s instructor. Civic Dance Studio also has a Competition Team. If you are interested in being on the team, please contact the instructors. Private lessons are also available. To set this up, please contact Amy Jordan at 636-4748120 or ajordan@ofallon.mo.us.

Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do This six-week Martial Arts program will focus on the traditional Korean form of Tae Kwon Do known as Chung Do Kwan. This style is based on explosive movements, devastating power and self-discipline. All students begin training at the “no belt” level. After learning the eight basics and the first form they will be invited to test for the white belt. Students will progress through a series of techniques and belts at their own pace and will not necessarily test each session. Because each student progresses at his or her own pace, testing will be at the discretion of the instructor. Children who would like to progress at a faster pace may register for more than one class. Min/Max: 7/20

If you are interested in watching one of the classes to see if it is something your child would be interested in, you may do so the last week of the session. Tae Kwon Do • Ages 3–5 441201-A 441201-C 441201-B 441201-D

Donna Johnson Through March 15 Medium: Watercolor O’Fallon resident Donna Johnson creates impressionistic watercolor landscapes, relying on photos and sketches for source material. Johnson considers herself an amateur artist, although since retirement she has spent countless hours developing her skill and attending workshops and classes. “When I paint, I use the language of art — form, changing light, colors, shadows and clouds — to express and share images that delight and amaze me,” she says.

March 22 – May 24 Medium: Printmaking Paul Breuer studied painting and printmaking at Washington University in St. Louis. He taught art in the Affton School District, and is a former arts educator at Bilkent Üniversitesi in Turkey. Deeply seated in the tradition of bringing art out into the community, Paul strives to strike a balance between the objective and the abstract. His strong color combinations give these prints a visual punch. View Paul’s website at www. pauladrianbreuer.com.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 21–23 and 28–30 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays O’Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall), East Entrance Left blind and deaf in the wake of a childhood illness, Helen is a feral, frustrated mystery to her exhausted family. After years of chasing cures, her parents send for a governess from the the prestigious Perkins Institute for the Blind. Enter Annie Sullivan, a lively, stubborn girl of twenty who has herself experienced blindness and endured many operations. Driven by the demons of a traumatic past, Annie embarks upon a battle to bring light into the darkness of Helen’s mind. It takes every ounce of Annie’s patience, creativity and fiery spirit to transform Helen Keller into the brilliant young woman she is destined to become. William Gibson’s riveting prose stirs to life one of the great miracles of the 19th century.

The Big House Join us for this unique hard hat tour of the former Missouri State Penitentiary (MSP) in Jefferson City, Missouri. Built in 1836 and shuttered in 2004, the “Big House” was hailed in 1893 as one of America’s most efficient prisons for feeding inmates on 11 cents a day, and condemned in 1967 as “the bloodiest 47 acres in America.” The tour includes prison history, famous inmates and their cells and even a glimpse of the gas chambers. Next, we’ll sit down to lunch at a local restaurant followed by ice cream at Central Dairy. After lunch and ice cream we’ll tour Missouri’s State Capitol. Participants will move to the next class or skill level when all skills from the previous level are mastered. Some classes may seem repetitive, but we want swimmers to perfect their skills in order to advance safely. Please keep in mind that children learn at different paces, and it is common to repeat a class.

The program is composed of 11 course levels:

Weekday classes at the Renaud Center meet twice weekly for four weeks and last 35 minutes. Saturday morning sessions last 40 minutes and meet for seven weeks.

Learn to Swim ’Fallon’s Learn to Swim program is built on teaching aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression. Our goal is to teach children and adults how to swim and be safe in and around the water.

Aqua Learning: Preschool: Preschool Plus: Level 1: Level 2: Level 3: Level 4: Level 5: Level 6: Level:

Shrimp I and II, Pollywog Turtle Seahorse Explorer Submarine Clipper Sailor Adventurer Barracuda Adult

Aqua Learning: Parent and child participation is required. Class size is limited to eight parent-child couples. Pollywog: Class ratio is four to one instructor. Parents are required to be in the water the first four classes. Preschool – Level 3: Class ratio is six children to one instructor. Levels 4 – 6: Class ratio is eight children to one instructor. Adult: Class ratio is eight adults to one instructor.

Which class is right for my child? To ensure your child’s success in the Learn to Swim program, it’s important to register children for the appropriate level. Children who have participated in the swimming program should register according to the last class successfully completed. Each child must pass a particular level before proceeding to the next.

Weekday classes at Alligator’s Creek meet four times a week for two weeks. Saturday morning sessions meet for 35 minutes once a week for eight weeks.

The Aqua Learning levels help children ages 6 months to 3 years become comfortable in and around water and prepare them to learn how to swim. The classes are divided into three sections: Shrimp I, Shrimp II and Pollywog. Please note: Classes may seem repetitive because they are introductions to water.

Aqua Learning: Shrimp I • Ages 6 – 18 months Parent-child or guardian participation in the water is required. The instructor will demonstrate techniques as parents learn how to safely guide children and help them advance at their own pace. Min/Max: 3/8
