Civic Dance Studio June 2017 – May 2018 This great eleven-month dance program encourages students to practice and improve throughout the school year, and culminates with the Year-End Dance Recital. Class participation is crucial in preparing for the recital, so we ask that children commit to attending ALL scheduled classes through May 2018. New students will be accepted into the program at any time; however, students who joined after February 2018 will not be eligible to participate in the recital held June 2018. Classes are held at the Civic Annex, 410 East Elm Street, O’Fallon, MO 63366. Regular participation in Civic Dance Studio is the best way to help students build a progressive foundation for dance as they learn and practice dance steps and master the skills they need.

Tae Kwon Do This six-week Martial Arts program will focus on the traditional Korean form of Tae Kwon Do known as Chung Do Kwan. This style is based on explosive movements, devastating power and self-discipline. All students begin training at the “no belt” level. After learning the eight basics and the first form they will be invited to test for the white belt. Students will progress through a series of techniques and belts at their own pace and will NOT necessarily test each session. Because each student progresses at his or her own pace, testing will be at the discretion of the instructor. Children who would like to progress at a faster pace may register for more than one class.
If you are interested in watching one of the classes to see if it is something your child would be interested in, you may do so the last week of the session. Tyke Kwon Do • Ages 3–5 141201-A 141201-C 141201-B 141201-D

Aquatics Learn to Swim
O
’Fallon’s Learn to Swim program is built on teaching aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression. Our goal is to teach children and adults how to swim and be safe in and around the water. The program is composed of 11 course levels:
Aqua Learning: Preschool: Preschool Plus: Level 1: Level 2: Level 3: Level 4: Level 5: Level 6: Level:
Shrimp I and II, Pollywog Turtle Seahorse Explorer Submarine Clipper Sailor Adventurer Barracuda Adult
Aqua Learning: Parent and child participation is required. Class size is limited to eight parent-child couples. Pollywog: Class ratio is four to one instructor. Parents are required to be in the water the first four classes. Preschool – Level 3: Class ratio is six children to one instructor. Levels 4 – 6: Class ratio is eight children to one instructor. Adult: Class ratio is eight adults to one instructor. Participants will move to the next class or skill level when all skills from the previous level are mastered. Some classes may seem repetitive, but we want swimmers to perfect their skills in order to advance safely. Please keep in mind that children learn at different paces and it’s common to repeat a class.
Weekday classes at the RSC meet twice weekly for four weeks and last 35 minutes. Saturday morning sessions last 40 minutes and meet for seven weeks.
Weekday classes at Alligator’s Creek meet four times a week for two weeks. Saturday morning sessions meet for 35 minutes once a week for eight weeks.
Which class is right for my child? To ensure your child’s success in the Learn to Swim program, it’s important to register children for the appropriate level. Children who have participated in the swimming program should register according to the last class successfully completed. Each child must pass a particular level before proceeding to the next.
The Aqua Learning levels help children ages 6 months to 3 years become comfortable in and around water and prepares them to learn how to swim. The classes are divided into three sections: Shrimp I, Shrimp II and Pollywog. Please note: Classes may seem repetitive because they are introductions to water.
Aqua Learning: Shrimp I • Ages 6 – 18 months Parent-child or guardian participation in the water is required. The instructor will demonstrate techniques as parents learn how to safely guide children and help them advance at their own pace. Min/Max: 3/8

Youth Soccer League Kids love our exciting, eight-game leagues which focus on soccer skills, rules and fun! Leagues fill quickly, so register early! Games are played at Sports Park on Saturdays between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Parents, we need volunteer coaches! Parent coaches are eligible to have one child’s registration fee reduced if slots are available. Starting July 6, an additional $12 late fee will apply to all registration. Registration ends Thursday, July 29, or when the program fills. Eligibility is based on a child’s age as of August 1, 2017; however, children who turn 4 as of October 28, 2017, may participate in the 4 and 5-year-old leagues. A player should register for both the same league in the fall and spring. The Coaches Meeting will be held August 26 at 8 a.m. for Pee Wee Coaches and 9:30 a.m. for all other leagues. Sorry, we do not accept team/player requests from parents, only roster requests from coaches. Please note: Roster requests do not register a child for the program and it does not guarantee a child a spot in the program. Practices are NOT a part of the league fee, so refunds or team changes will not be made to accommodate practice schedules. Also, the 10-11 and 14U will be playing 8v8.

July 21 – September 1 Medium: Acrylic paintings on craft paper Neil has always lived in Missouri except for the years pursuing a Fire Arts degree at the University of Colorado. While living in the west he began his artistic journey as a landscape painter using the majestic mountain scenes as reference. Later he was introduced to the medium of clay by the accomplished ceramicist, Herb Schumacher. After returning to Missouri, Neil completed his art education at the University of Missouri and Washington University in St. Louis. He combined his skills as a painter with clay and used these expressive elements to produce images which capture honesty in his art with a unique perspective and mood. Neil has been a faculty member of East Central College for eight years, teaching art history, painting and ceramics, and he has exhibited his artwork in a variety of galleries and venues. Many of his commissions, murals, paintings and sculptural forms are in public and private collections worldwide. On the value of art, Neil Kruel says, “Art refines, distills and discards the ephemeral and presents to the viewer the purity of the process.”
Cultural Arts Programs Supplies are not included in the cost of the following art classes. Supply lists will be available when you register. It’s best to purchase materials after class is confirmed by minimum enrollment.

Upcoming Productions Once Upon a Storytime June 9 and 10 7 p.m. evening performances both days; Saturday Matinee at 2 p.m. It’s bedtime! But Mandy, Tommy, and Abby refuse to settle down without a story...or two...or three. Dad finally gives in, but his stories are nothing like Mom’s! Was Cinderella crazy? Was Prince Charming super immature? Why was Big Bad Wolf always chasing those pigs? Snuggle up with these fun fairy tales, but watch out - there are dire consequences for those who stay up late!
Shrek the Musical, Jr. June 15, 16 and 17 7 p.m. evening performances all three days; Saturday Matinee at 2 p.m. “Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek....” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a shorttempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand... and his name is Shrek.
All performances are held on the stage at the O’Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall), 100 North Main Street; enter through the East Lobby. Tickets for both musicals on sale now!

Challenge yourself at “The Fort,” O’Fallon’s first disc golf course. This scenic, 18-hole course loops through Fort Zumwalt Park. The course length is 4,290 feet from the beginner markers (red) and 5,957 feet from the intermediate markers (white). The terrain offers a mix of open fairway, rolling hills and a wooded canopy, encouraging players to use a variety of discs. The course is open to all ages during regular park hours. Restrooms are located nearby. For course details, visit www.ofallon.mo.us/parks&rec/disc-golfcourse.
Weddings in Fort Zumwalt Park Two-hour permits for the use of the wedding site are available for parties of up to 100 people. No electricity, tents, tables or chairs will be provided. The cost is $70/$95, plus a $50 refundable security deposit.
