Definition of a “resident” and “family” • “Residents” are people who live within the City of O’Fallon’s

• • •

corporate limits. City limits and Post Office boundaries are not the same, so it’s possible to have an O’Fallon address, yet live outside the City, or have a postal address in an adjacent municipality, yet live in O’Fallon. A “resident family” is defined as 2–5 people* living at the same address within O’Fallon city limits. A “non-resident family” is defined as 2–4 people* living at the same address outside of O’Fallon city limits.

All family members must be declared when a family membership is purchased. Inappropriate use of membership ID and/or privileges may result in termination or suspension of the membership.

* Additional individual family members (ages 3+) may be added to an RSC membership at the cost of $25 for residents, $50 for non-residents.

Resident Privilege Cards* For resident rates and discounts All O’Fallon residents are eligible for resident rates on park facilities and admissions with a Resident Privilege Card, which is issued free of charge to residents and their children. Apply for Resident Privilege Cards at either the Renaud Spirit Center or the Parks and Recreation Office. Residents ages 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to obtain a card. The cards expire two years from the date that they’re issued. Lost cards may be replaced for $5.

Proof of residency To obtain a Resident Privilege Card, you must present both proof of identity and proof of residency. Acceptable forms of photo ID, which must** show your current O’Fallon address, include:

• Missouri driver’s license or identification card • College student identification card • Military identification card In addition, residents need one of the following with the same address as the photo ID:

• • • • • •

An unpaid utility bill A personal check with pre-printed name and address A current auto or voter registration A current personal property tax statement The most recent personal income tax statement A current rental lease agreement

* Resident Privilege Card must be presented to receive resident rate. ** If your photo ID doesn’t show your current O’Fallon address, you must provide a second proof of address along with the photo ID. 2016-04

The training can also help develop proper habits that may reduce the risk of injuries. Strength training will focus on progressively developing upper and lower body strength, core strength and stability through various periodization models. Speed training will focus on mastering efficient movement mechanics to optimize acceleration and maximum speed movement pertaining specifically to a given sport. Endurance training will progress from general to specific interval, shuttle and sprint training. Participants will become proficient at proper running and acceleration techniques. Flexibility will be emphasized with each session and each athlete will be stretched by Mr. Helms at the conclusion of the workout.

Dr. Grogan utilizes the “joint-by-joint” approach to patient care, which emphasizes the impact that the kinetic chain (ankles, knees, hips, shoulders etc.) can have on the entire body. Through functional analysis Dr. Grogan will locate the true dysfunction and source of the problem to arrive at an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. Through mobilization of the joints and by placing a heavy emphasis on soft-tissue treatment and rehabilitation, his goal is to provide fast, effective care and empower patients to take control of their own health.

Tae Kwon Do This 6-week Martial Arts program will focus on the traditional Korean form of Tae Kwon Do known as Chung Do Kwan. This style is based on explosive movements, devastating power and self-discipline. All students begin training at the “no belt” level. After learning the eight basics and the first form they will be invited to test for the white belt. Students will progress through a series of techniques and belts at their own pace and will NOT necessarily test each session. Because each student progresses at his or her own pace, testing will be at the discretion of the instructor. Children who would like to progress at a faster pace may register for more than one class.

Are you ready to learn front and back handsprings, round-off back handsprings and aerial cartwheels? If so, this six-week class will help fine tune your intermediate skills and vault you into advanced ones. Students will focus on proper technique, strength and flexibility. To qualify for this class, students must be able to perform a backbend kick over, handstand forward roll, and a round off. (Minimum enrollment is four; maximum is eight.) 45448 46080

Civic Dance Studio Now through June 2016! Enroll now! This great eleven-month dance program encourages students to practice and improve throughout the school year, and culminates with a Year-End Dance Recital. Class participation is crucial in preparing for the recital, so we ask that children commit to attending ALL scheduled classes through June 2016. New students will be accepted into the program at any time; however, students joining after December 31, 2015, will not be eligible to participate in the recital held June 2016. Classes are held at the Civic Annex, 410 East Elm Street, O’Fallon, MO 63366. Regular participation in Civic Dance Studio is the best way to help students build a progressive foundation for dance as they learn and practice dance steps and master the skills they need. Enrollment options are as follows:

O’FallonTheatreWorks O’FallonTheatreWorks the comedy, Noises Off V+ March 4–6 and 11–13 On the stage at the O’Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall) Curtain time is 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Concessions will be available. The Box Office opens one hour before each show. Winner of a Tony Award for Best Play, Noises Off is a hilarious three-act play-within-a-play. Taking its title from a theatrical term for sounds emanating off-stage, Noises Off opens on a dress rehearsal for Nothing’s On, a flop of a play with a lot of door slamming and performers who seem baffled as they miss entrances and exits, forget lines and even the props appear to misbehave. During the second act, the audience views Nothing’s On from backstage, where pure pandemonium reigns as the actors’ relationships deteriorate. By act three, the play is at the end of its run and the actors are at the ends of their tethers, with some undermining their fellow actors’ performances to the point that the plot falls completely apart.

Tickets in advance are:

$10 general admission $8 seniors (ages 55+), children and students (ages 6–17) Discount rate for groups of 10 or more $2 additional charge at the box office, which opens an hour before each show.

Learn to Swim O

’Fallon’s Learn to Swim program is built on teaching aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression. Our goal is to teach children and adults how to swim and be safe in and around the water. The program is composed of 11 course levels:

Aqua Learning: Preschool: Preschool Plus: Level 1: Level 2: Level 3: Level 4: Level 5: Level 6: Level:

Shrimp I and II, Pollywog Turtle Seahorse Explorer Submarine Clipper Sailor Adventurer Barracuda Adult

Aqua Learning: Parent and child participation is required. Class size is limited to eight parent-child couples. Pollywog: Class ratio is four to one instructor. Parents are required to be in the water the first four classes. Preschool – Level 3: Class ratio is six children to one instructor. Levels 4 – 6: Class ratio is eight children to one instructor. Adult: Class ratio is eight adults to one instructor. Participants will move to the next class or skill level when all skills from the previous level are mastered. Some classes may seem repetitive, but we want swimmers to perfect their skills in order to advance safely. Please keep in mind that children learn at different paces and it’s common to repeat a class. Weekday classes at the RSC meet twice weekly for four weeks and last 35 minutes. Saturday morning sessions last 40 minutes and meet for seven weeks.

34

www.ofallon.mo.us/parks&rec 636-474-2REC (2732)

Which class is right for my child? To ensure your child’s success in the Learn to Swim program, it’s important to register children for the appropriate level. Children who have participated in the swimming program should register according to the last class successfully completed. Each child must pass a particular level before proceeding to the next.

Aqua Learning This program helps children ages 6 months to 3 years become comfortable in and around water and prepares them to learn how to swim. The class is divided into two sections: Shrimp I and Shrimp II. Please note: Classes may seem repetitive because they are introductions to water.

Shrimp I • Ages 6 – 18 months Parent-child or guardian participation in the water is required. The instructor will demonstrate techniques as parents learn how to safely guide children and help them advance at their own pace.

Disc golf course in Fort Zumwalt Park

Weddings in Fort Zumwalt Park

To accommodate the Celebration of Lights installation, the disc golf course will be closed through mid-January 2016.

Get married in scenic Fort Zumwalt Park with Lake Whetsel, the Zumwalt’s Fort interpretive site, or the historic Heald Home in the background. Two-hour permits for the use of the wedding site are available for parties of up to 100 people. No electricity, tents, tables or chairs will be provided. The cost is $70/$95, plus a $50 refundable security deposit.

Challenge yourself at “The Fort,” O’Fallon’s first disc golf course. This scenic, 18-hole course loops through Fort Zumwalt Park. There’s no charge for open play and free score cards will be provided near the first tee. The course length is 4,290 feet from the beginner markers (red) and 5,957 feet from the intermediate markers (white). The terrain offers a mix of open fairway, rolling hills and a wooded canopy, encouraging players to use a variety of discs. The course is open to all ages during regular park hours. Restrooms are located nearby. For course details, visit www.ofallon.mo.us/parks&rec/disc-golf-course.

Rent the historic Heald Home The Darius Heald Home, built circa 1884, is available for hourly rentals, with a two-hour minimum required.
