Summer 2024 City of O'Fallon Parks & Rec Guide

Page 1

This fun program allows residents to get outdoors and enjoy our parks. This year, we’re excited to introduce Get Out and Play Days where families can come together to experience new activities and recreational opportunities.

Swimming Safety

Swimming is a quintessential summer activity, offering a refreshing escape from the heat and a fun way to stay active. This year, your friends at O’Fallon Parks & Recreation are dedicated to helping ensure our community swims safely! Here are our top three tips to keep in mind while on vacation, or making a splash at Alligator’s Creek Aquatic Center:

Buddy Up: Never swim alone. This applies to all bodies of water, from backyard pools to vast oceans. Having a designated buddy means someone can call for help in an emergency.

Life Jacket Love: Ensure life jackets fit snugly and are appropriate for the activity. Consider using Coast Guard-approved life jackets specifically designed for size and weight.

Know Your Limits: Don’t overestimate your swimming ability. Stick to areas you’re comfortable with and avoid swimming in unfamiliar waters, especially alone.

Find the right group lessons for your child

To ensure success in the O’Fallon Swim Academy, it’s important to register children for the appropriate level. Children who have participated in the swimming program should register according to the last class successfully completed, moving to the next class or skill level when all skills from the previous level are mastered. Some classes may seem repetitive, but we want swimmers to perfect their skills in order to advance safely, not quickly. Children learn at different paces and it is common to repeat a class.

CORE Soccer Training Programs

Our CORE programs promote and develop different skills to enhance the technical abilities of our young players! In First Touch, participants will be introduced to the basics of soccer through fun games and props. In CORE, players will work on dribbling, passing, receiving, and shooting skills.

These programs are designed to supplement the O’Fallon Youth Soccer League as well as introduce each child to the skills needed for all levels of play.

For over 20 years, former professional player and coach Jamie Swanner and his staff have been offering summer soccer camps designed to help improve the player’s technical skills while having fun. Each day we will introduce many challenging and exciting games related to these technical skills. Coaches and parents are encouraged to attend each training session not only to watch the kids play and have fun, but to observe and take notes of the drills and games the kids enjoy the most. Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. Adapted from Tina Fey's hit 2004 film, this cult-classic is coming to O'Fallon in June!

Please note all tickets for O'Fallon Theatre Works productions must be purchased online. On-site cash sales will no longer be available at the box office.
