This parent-assisted program helps small children become accustomed to the water while in the familiar hands of a parent.

Tiny Tots

Ages: 3-5

Location: Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center (EMNECC)

Instruction begins with basic physical and mental adjustment, basic safety and water skills using play as the primary form of teaching. This class does not teach children to be accomplished swimmers, but develops a comfort in the water. Ratio: 5 students to 1 instructor.

Learn to Swim

Ages: 6+

Location: Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center (EMNECC)

Students will be introduced to the fundamentals and techniques of basic swimming. Advanced students will refine the skills presented in previous lessons. This course is broken out into six levels of progressive instruction. Ratio: 8 students to 1 instructor.

Adult Swim Clinic

Ages: 15+

Instructors work with participants to identify goals for success and design the course for goal completion.

Lap Lanes

Ages: All

Location: Northwest and EMNECC

Lap Lanes offers shared lap lanes intended for exercise inclusive to any age and all skill levels. Customers are welcome to use any available equipment offered at each aquatics facility. Lap lanes may be limited; participants are encouraged to practice proper lane etiquette.

Water Fitness

Ages: 18+

Location: Northwest and EMNECC

The City of Reno offers numerous water fitness classes at both Northwest Pool and at the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center. These classes are rated in level of intensity and designed both for those looking to improve mobility as well as those looking for a higher intensity cardio workout.

Cost: $6.25 drop in Adult 18+ $5.25 drop in Senior 60+ Discounted monthly fee available (varies depending on amount of meeting days per month)

Location: EMNECC

Relieve joint pressure, soothe arthritis pain, and enhance your range of motion in this extremely low-impact warm water class. This class will help promote movement for the rest of your day and soothe the muscles with light stretches to finish. This class focuses on mobility, and will not provide cardiovascular exercise. Non-swimmers welcome, ADA lift available.

Lifeguard Classes

Ages: 15+

Lifeguards are trained to act with speed and confidence in emergency situations both in and out of the water. Core content includes: Water rescue skills, surveillance and recognition, First Aid, CPR and AED, and breathing and cardiac emergencies. Participants are required to pass a pre-course swimming test and in order to earn a certification, must attend all courses, pass a written exam and pass a practical skills test. An e-book or printed version is available.

Junior Lifeguard Program

Ages: 11-14

Cost: $150

Location: Idlewild Pool

Session Dates:

• June 20 - June 30

• July 11 - 22
