THERAPEUTIC RECREATION

Therapeutic Recreation (TR) is a treatment service designed to restore, remediate and rehabilitate a person’s level of functioning and independence in life activities. The goal of TR is to promote health and wellness through recreation, while reducing restrictions of participation in life situations caused by illness or disabling condition. Princess Spa Day

Date: February 11 Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Age: Girls ages 4-18 with disabilities Cost: $10 Location: East Suffolk Recreation Center It’s a girls’ day! Spend the day getting pampered like a princess. Manicures, makeup, & facials galore! Accompanied with tea and pastries. The Suffolk Office on Youth oversees prevention and outreach programs to assist youth and families in improving their overall quality of life. Through programs, resources, and partnerships, Office on Youth adds a positive, nurturing, and healthy community for every child in Suffolk. Increase The Peace Fashion Show

Date: April 29 (Auditions held early April) Time: 6:00 PM - show time, 5:00 PM - doors open Age: 5+ Cost: $5 Location: Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts A fashion show for local youth to model various types of attire. This event allows for a diverse group of youth to come together and show unity within the community. A portion of the proceeds will go towards a non-profit organization.

Mother-Son Dance

Date: March 18 Time: 6:00 - 9:00 PM Age: Sons 17 and under Cost: $25 per family Location: Planters Club Join us for an evening of dancing, food, fun, and more. This night will feature mother’s being escorted by their most handsome guy, their son. Casual attire is welcomed. You don’t want to miss out on this chance to spend some quality time with your son, while showing you still got it on the dance floor.

Mother-Daughter Tea Time

Date: April 15 Time: 12:00 - 1:30 PM Age: All Grades Cost: $10 Location: East Suffolk Recreation Center Spend time with your little princess to sip tea, enjoy light refreshments, and listen to a guest speaker on the many joys of motherhood.
