Bird Watchers

Date: May 14 Ages: 18+ (Children welcome with accompanying adult) Location: Lone Star Lakes Park Time: 8:00 - 10:00 AM Cost: Free Join us as we observe the number and details of birds found at Lone Star Lakes Park, our 1000 acre forested park surrounded 11 lakes. Bring your binoculars and spotting scopes if you own a pair. We will also have a limited supply available for use.

Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga

Date: May - August Days: Saturdays Time: 11:00 AM -12:15 PM Location: Lone Star Lakes Park Age: 18+ Cost: $40 per class (Package deal: $140 for 4 classes) This Standup Paddleboard (SUP) yoga class is designed to teach you all the basics of SUP, safety, getting on the water, general SUP practice, and SUP Yoga! Creepy Crawlies Night Hike

Date: June 10 Ages: 18+ (Children welcome with accompanying adult) Cost: $5 Time: 9:00 - 11:00 PM Location: Sleepy Hole Park (4616 Sleepy Hole Road) Using backlights, we will go in search of bugs and insects that hide in the dark on this nighttime adventure. Dress warmly; flashlights will be provided.

Rollin Down the River - Paddle Trip

Dates: July 15 Ages: 18+ (Children welcome with accompanying adult) Time: 6:00 – 7:30 PM Location: Constant’s Wharf Cost: $20 per canoe Come join us as we take you on a relaxing canoe paddle up and down the Nansemond River. This trip will begin and end at Constant’s Wharf, behind The Hilton Garden Inn-Suffolk Riverfront.

Archery Clinic

Dates: August 1, 3, 5 Ages: 7 – 11 (9:00 – 11:00 AM); 12 – 17 (1:00 – 3:00 PM) Location: Sleepy Hole Cost: $65 This summer, give your child an opportunity to spend time in the outdoors during this fun-filled three-day archery clinic held at Sleepy Hole Park. Participants will learn the basics of archery and target shooting. Participants should wear weather appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. Bring a water bottle and small snack.

Parents Day Paddle

Dates: July 24 Ages 18+ (Children welcome with accompanying adult) Time: 9:00 – 11:00 AM Location: Lone Star Lakes Park Cost: $20 per boat In celebration of Parents Day, treat Mom or Dad to a relaxing paddle within the beautiful lake located at Butler Tract. Boat, life jacket, and paddle included.

Outdoor Adventures- Field Trips

You can discover an abundance of adventure in the Great Outdoors here in Suffolk! Our hands-on educational/recreational programs can include activities such as hiking, canoeing, kayaking, archery, and wildlife viewing at venues such as Sleepy Hole, Bennett’s Creek, Lone Star Lakes, and Lake Meade parks. Our park programs will provide unforgettable outdoor experiences and activities that are sure to captivate participants of all ages. Inquire to see if we can create the perfect program for you or your group! Nature interpretation programs are $5 per person per hour. Paddling tours are $10 per person per hour. Archery is $15 per person per hour. This requires a 4 person minimum.
