Suffolk Sewing Circle: Make a Baby Bib

In this video tutorial, you will learn how to make baby bibs designed for ages 6-12 months. This beginner-level program requires the use of a sewing machine. Use your own or check out one from the library!

Storytime at the Station
Date: May - August (check website) Time: 10:30 AM Ages: 8 & Under Cost: Free Location: Seaboard Station Railroad Museum Join Suffolk Tourism for a “Storytime at the Station” series! This fun interactive storytelling program is geared toward children ages three to seven. Blankets or beach towels for comfortable seating are welcome. Each month a different book will be read, followed by the opportunity to explore the museum. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Suffolk Art League’s Open Members’ Show
Date: June 14 - July 15 Time: Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Sunday, 1:00 - 5:00 PM Ages: All Cost: Free Location: Suffolk Art Gallery at 118 Bosley Avenue This show features artwork by current members of the Suffolk Art League. These artists from the Hampton Roads region (and beyond) work in many different styles, including traditional still life, landscape paintings, and nonrepresentational/abstract works, in a wide variety of art mediums. In addition to the two-dimensional works on display, there are glass, clay, and wood sculptures, mixed media sculptures, and jewelry.

Suffolk Farmers’ Market
Since 2005, the Suffolk Farmers’ Market has been a popular outlet for locally grown fruits and vegetables, baked goods, organically raised poultry, fresh eggs and milk, honey and a variety of artisan-crafted goods.
The Suffolk Farmers’ Market is founded on the concept of preserving the City’s agricultural heritage through wholesome family activities. Our mission is to support local family farms and artisans by creating a place of connectivity between producers and consumers. Market participation is open to regional producers within a 100-mile radius of Suffolk.
The 2022 Market kicks off a new season in the open air special event pavilion behind the Suffolk Visitor Center on May 7. Free and open to the public, the Market also showcases live music, exhibits, petting zoos, book signings, workshops, crafts, and more. The current Farmers’ Market Season will conclude on Saturday, November 19. Regular market hours are Saturdays, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, weather permitting.

Movie Series: Summer of Adventure at the Center

Date: Sunday, August 21 Four high school kids discover an old video-game console and are literally drawn into the game’s jungle setting…discovering you don’t just play Jumanji: you survive it. The cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black. This 2017 film is rated PG-13 and has a running time of 119 minutes.

This exhibit will include works from four series: ““Mindstorms,” “Neuroplasticity,” “Man as Façade,” and “Conspiracy Theories.” John Alan Stock is an American artist currently residing in Virginia. He has been included in multiple major juried exhibitions; after a hiatus from exhibiting art between 2007 and 2016, he has returned to a full-time focus on art.
