The classic Festival returns August 3-4 with a new rhubarby twist. Here’s a taste: * Kick-off the fun with the Sumner Marching Band * Fill up at the Pancake Feed * Cheer on the Great Rhubarb Race as SHS Alumni take on the current football team to see who can load the “boxcar” with rhubarb first. * Watch Live Wood Carving transform the lost trees on Alder Street into rhubarb art. * Are you brave enough to eat Rhubarb RAW!? * Take in the Military Cook-Off with demonstrations of cooking in the field from all military branches. * Join in Rhubarb’s Pet Parade on Saturday.
* Cheer on the Great Rhu-Bate as lawyers Rod Stephens and Brett Vinson argue crumb crust vs. lattice crust. * Enjoy Kids’ Valley crafts with the YMCA. * Get on par with Sumner Meadows’ Rhubarb Putt-Putt. * Shop booths of hand-made art. * Eat your fill of burgers, pies, tacos, ice-cream, scones and more at the Food Court. * Kick up your heels in the Rhubarb Barrel House to the music of MayDay, Ten O’Clock Curfew, the Diamond Experience and Randy Linder’s premiere tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival. Plus, sample local microbrews, including some special rhubarb brews available only at the festival.
