Business Retention and Attraction Survey (BRAE) - City of Vallejo We know that the economic well-being of our community is largely based upon our existing businesses. In recognition of this, the Economic Vitality Commission (EVC) has partnered with the Economic Development Department to develop a Business Retention, Attraction and Expansion survey (BRAE) to gather information from Vallejo businesses to help the city hone in on business retention and attraction activities, provide services needed to help businesses grow or thrive, and provide workforce development services that comply with the needs of the businesses. Specifically, the BRAE Survey's purpose is to: • • • • • • •
Demonstrate the City’s pro-business attitude. Build on developing communication with local businesses. Obtain business opinion and satisfaction level with the City. Identify business needs and concerns that may be addressed by the city. Identify business future outlook; profit change; relocation; expansion Identify the opportunity to provide training. Develop strategies and actions that will support economic development.
The City of Vallejo last surveyed businesses in 2012, so your feedback is important to help inform future economic development efforts. You can access the survey by clicking here. Should you have any questions regarding this survey, please feel free to contact Ivette Iraheta of the Economic Development Division of the City of Vallejo at (707) 6452622 or via email at ivette.iraheta@cityofvallejo.net. Respectfully, L. Alexander Matias, MPA Chairman, Economic Vitality Commission (EVC)

Temporary Lane Shift on Westbound I-80 Traffic Lanes between Magazine Street and Carquinez Bridge For Upcoming Highway Construction Motorists Are Advised to Slow Down Beginning Friday, March 11, 2022 Caltrans will be shifting the current traffic lane configuration on westbound Interstate-80 (I-80) between the Magazine Street Exit and the Carquinez Bridge in Vallejo starting Friday, March 11, 2022. Motorists are advised to slow down in the construction zone and watch for the new traffic lane configuration. Traffic lanes on westbound I-80 will be shifted to the median section to allow crews to continue constructing and replacing an elevated section of I-80 above State Route-29 (SR/29), also known as Sonoma Boulevard. Traffic lanes on eastbound I-80 will remain in their current configuration. The SR-29/I-80 Separation Bridge Reconstruction Project replaces a 6,000-foot wide section of elevated highway, which includes all eastbound and westbound travel lanes on I-80 just east of the Carquinez Bridge. There will be various overnight lane closures on westbound and eastbound I-80 near Magazine Street for worker and public safety. Those closures will start on Tuesday, March 8 at 9:00 PM through Wednesday, March 9 at 6:00 AM. Overnight, crews will relocate movable concrete barriers known as K-Rails to allow for the new traffic configuration and the next phase of construction.

ALPR STATS
ALPR: What is it? The evidence-gathering technology captures license plates and car descriptions that allow the Department to track relevant data and trends in real-time. For example, if a vehicle is reported as stolen and drives by one of these cameras, the department receives an instant notification and vehicle description; usually within seconds. ALPR: What it is not. Flock Safety's cameras are designed with privacy-first policies in mind - the footage is securely stored to an online cloud and automatically deletes every 30 days on a rolling basis. The cameras are not used for traffic enforcement and do not include facial recognition technology. ALPR: How is it helping? From January 16 - February 15, 2022, ALPR technology assisted with: • Vehicle Recoveries: 10
• • •
Cases Assisted (identifying suspect vehicle location info): 18 Arrests: 12 Total LPR Reads* (stolen vehicle/plate/hot list): 477
Wondering what those offenses were? • Vehicle theft • Possession of a stolen vehicle • Concealed firearm by a felon • Warrant - felony/misdemeanor • Probation violation • Felon in possession of ammunition * The 477 hot list reads break down as follows: • Stolen Plate: 362 • Stolen Vehicle: 104 • Felony Vehicles: 8 • Officer Alerts/BOLO: 3 Stay tuned as we share more in-depth ALPR success stories. CALTRANS Clean California Grant In partnership with the Greater Vallejo Recreation District, Vallejo Flood and Wastewater District, and the Solano Resource Conservation District, the City of Vallejo is pleased to announce that the Caltrans Clean California Grant Program has awarded the group a $4.8M grant. The grant funds will be used to clean up and enhance Lake Dalwigk Park. The proposed project will improve the existing trail through the park, making it more accessible and extending the paving on both ends for pedestrians and cyclists. This path extension will also allow travelers a safe route to access the Curtola Transit Center services. Surrounding neighborhoods will also enjoy the benefits of improved access to the park and traffic calming improvements, increasing pedestrian and bike safety in the area. Additional park and habitat improvements will include: • a new restroom; • shade structure; • sidewalk and landscaping replacement along Lemon Street; • two new monument signs; picnic tables and drinking fountains; • trash receptacles; • dog waste stations; • interpretive information (informational signage); and • new landscaping. "This is a real win for the Vallejo Community! I am extremely proud of the collaborative work staff did to complete and submit this winning application," said IACM Gillian Hayes. Vallejo Transportation Manager, Mark Helmbrecht said, "It was an extremely competitive grant, and only 30% of the submissions were awarded funding. This project will complement all of the trash clean-up and landscaping that has been going on for the past several years in the area as well as enrich the habitat and native plant work."
