By bringing in local experts, CAMN will work to provide training on air pollution and health; air pollution monitoring; leadership and advocacy; green jobs; and outreach and engagement.

The Vallejo Citizens Air Monitoring Network (CAMN) is pleased to announce the launch of its Clean Air Ambassador Program. The Program will provide funding and training to empower, mentor, and activate community leaders in Vallejo to take action for clean, healthy, and breathable air. Poor air quality from traffic, industry, refineries, and wildfires is a constant factor in environmental injustice and is linked to health issues, such as asthma, heart disease, and cancer.

For over 20 years, Fighting Back Partnership has encouraged youth to inspire the community through art as part of their annual calendar contest. They proudly continued the Calendar Art Contest tradition with this year’s theme, “In the eyes of the unhoused…”. This theme was chosen to encourage youth to think about the community around us, help us all learn about potential problems and advocate for change to make quality of life better. It’s been a great opportunity to start a dialogue with youth and families to explore awareness about the unhoused population and solutions to help prevent and end poverty in our community.

Fighting Back Partnership hopes the calendar contest will continue to be a vessel for healing the community through art.

The Greater Vallejo Recreation District is happy to announce the pickleball court expansion at Glen Cove Park in Vallejo located at 605 Glen Cove Parkway. The expansion brings the total number of courts to four. The courts were completed earlier than expected and are now open for play. GVRD also plans to install a picnic table and bleacher seats next to the courts where players can wait their turn. GVRD plans on reaching out to the community later this month with a survey on possible locations to place additional pickleball courts. More soccer fields and pool upgrades are on the horizon as well. We thank the community for their support in activities for Vallejoans of all ages.
